Installed the MAMS harness bar I bought on the forum and test-fit my DIY CoolShirt cooler/bracket. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...79bb3a96f5.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...196e44980a.jpg

You going to use 3" hose for brake cooling? Don't use the orange double wall stuff. It's hard to make bends with it. With those ducts, you should have a easier time routing the hose then using the RC ducts. The RC ducts like mine are closer to the center and the right side puts the hose right into the washer reservoir.

I used the powdercoated button head bolts on mine too. Still had some rust show up in the center because the allen wrench chipped the coating inside the hole. So be warned. ;)

You going to do the big mouth mod on the grill area too?

I'm actually using one side to cool my oil cooler. Since my car isn't a track car I didn't feel the need for additional brake cooling but I do need more oil cooling.

My bolts are stainless steel under the powder coating. I still want to be careful not to chip the power coat.

Your oil cooler going to be mounted in front of the tire instead of being in front of the radiator?

Yes sir. It just doesn't get optimum cooling sandwiched between the ic and radiator. Especially since I'm not cutting the bumper opening larger.

You going to vent the fender liner?

Yessir! The pump is controlled by one of the switches I installed in the center console so I can have ice-cold comfort on command. New CoolShirt came today too.

The only downside to this system is that I try not to stop at crowded gas stations, because after rolling out of exiting the Z I have to stuff a large, black hose down my shorts...

I got an e-mail the other day on a new system. Doesn't use water. The unit weights 11 lbs. And I deleted that e-mail too.

Think it was the Nismo oil cooler that mounted in front of the tire. There is a thread on it that people was venting the fender liner. Cutting holes and then glue screen over the holes to keep rocks out.

That really isn't a bad idea at all. I'll talk to the shop tomorrow. Thanks!

Think there was a vented fender liner with slotted vents for sale at one time.

When I bought the car, it was so low that when my guy was driving from Texas to California, one of the fender liners got completely ripped off. He's got new ones to re-install. Now would be a good time to install vents. That's an easy mod.

A little dremel work, some screen, some backing/framing plate, a few rivets, and you're good to go!

I can definitely see how carting around 50 lbs of ice on the track would be less than beneficial.

A couple days ago this guy came by and bought my P295 Pilots and gave me this replacement cup he 3-D printed for the useless fake button insert in the center console. If you are looking at the Mishimoto shift knob, it originally had an unsightly gap between the top of the boot. The solution was a cap from a quart of Castrol oil.

Attachment 137095This may not count for a "Today" activity, but I found this cool little rubber sticker of a Rising Sun flag I put on my front bumper, Memories of Old School and no, I don't have the matching bandana.

Have you considered plasti-dipping your door handles?

Now you mention it they stick out like a sore thumb as I stare at it. Great idea. What color? Gloss black?

I used matte and really liked it. A gloss would have to match perfectly w the MB paint to look nice, I think.

I had mine color matched Mag Black a while back, I'm trying to get the guy who did it to do more but he is swamped with a big side job right now. Hope he can clear things out and knock out a pair or 2 in late summer/early fall

Washed, clayed, polished.... tree sap is evil!

Used CQuartz Ceramic for the first time. Was extremely easy to use!

Waited 5 hours then added the finisher Gliss.

-ZS-Carpenter 06-02-2019 12:25 PM

Dug down until this guy popped out.

be sure to thoroughly and carefully mask off most of your car. YOu spray at angles to get inside the handle. I found plastidip particles by the driver mirror. And since our Z's are black you ain't gonna find it until you detail the car. WD40 and microfiber helps get it off.
