Your options.
1. Reuse bolt as is.
2. Chase the threads with a die to clean up.
3. Use a little bit of anti-seize to help the thread.
4. Get a new bolt.

I've done all 4 at one point or another in my life. :rofl2:
What is the bolt for? Caliper bracket to knuckle?
If that is what the bolt is for. And by looking at the head of the bolt. The flank of the face doesn't look to healthy. So I would pick option 4. Because of the flank starting to round off.But I don't know what the rest of the head looks like.

Only Bolt's that received any loc-tite are in the diff,,,all other's have anti-seize-as i often check for tightness & don't like seeing threads like those posted.

Clean it up with a wire brush or tap and die. Apply blue thread locker. It will hinder further corrosion.

I'll get new ones. I see a 6 on the bolt head. Are these hardened? I know usually the hardened bolts have lines on them.

Metric fastener grading is a little different. 5.6, 8.8, etc. I'm not certain about this specific bolt, but I'd suspect it would be case hardened.

I got 8.8 and a tap.

Hmm... looks like one of my rotors is warped a bit. Question is... to go oem, slotted, drilled, both? Any advantages/ disadvantages?

It's not a metric bolt though. 1/2"-20
Edit: nm... you said metric grading.

I've read that drilling rotors is more harmful than beneficial... I'd say if you don't track then go with cheap auto-parts OE replacements.

Well actually. The picth appears to be the same on these things, but the bolt itself is about half a millimeter wider. These aren't going to work.

Looked at it for the first time in two weeks. Contemplating driving it to run a few errands. TBD.

BoneZ 01-20-2018 12:19 PM

12 mm with a 1.25 pitch. They didn't have any hardened metric bolts so I'll just tap and die this out and hope for the best.
