Pics of the lights!

Edit: 2 people are needed for the reverse!

No, I can do it on my own. Just turn the ignition on and pop it into reverse. No engine running.

I'll take pics tomorrow night.

The thing that sucks is that the lens of the tail light aims the light up in the trees, so brighter bulbs (LED's) don't really help any. Unless of course you want to do bird watching in the middle of the night.

The headlights on the other hand, those turned out nice!

I can't wait until I install the 4th parking/brake light with reverse.

Owned on the on but not running DUH

Like what I’ve see from diode dynamics can’t wait.

Well... Just ordered not one, but two 8" Bazooka BT8024DVC subs. Yeah, they'll be going under the rear floor, replacing the single 6" BT6028DVC sub that I just bought a few weeks back.

Where are you going to fit them? Spare tire and dead space?

JLarson 03-06-2018 01:56 PM

Z1 transmission mount upgrade just went on. Can't wait to try it out, but waiting on a midpipe swap... tomorrow, if all goes well!

Do you live in Louisville?
I work there, live across the river in Clarksville.
Been to Dynosty a couple of times. Great guys.

Just woke my Z up from winter hibernation of 4 long months.
Removed the car cover, pulled the battery tender and checked all the fluids under the hood.
Then climbed inside and turned it “on” to check all lights, gauges, flashers and power are working fine.
All systems good to go - pressed the “Fire-that-Mother-Up” button and it roared back to life, purring like a tiger.
:excited: I simply sat there and enjoyed the sound for a good 20 min letting it warm up.

You’re probably saying to yourself “but you’re in Minnesota you fool (or just another fool from Minnesota) and you just had 6” of snow overnight, winter isn’t over yet. What are you thinking?!?”

Well, I’m leaving Saturday for a multi-week drive to Florida … then out to Utah. Tomorrow I’m having new tires put on (giving Firestone Indy 500’s a try) and also having tranny and diff. fluids swapped out with Redline products.

Wish me well!

Yes sir! Stealth install and 100% storage space retained as well as keeping weight down. :tiphat:

ChopsZ 03-07-2018 12:43 AM

Lastly, ordered more iJDM Toy goodies, panel LED lights for map lights and regular LED for rear cargo area as well as LED licence plate lights.

Well, I got half of my day's project done. Ordered two Bazooka tubes from the same place at the same time, and only one showed up. The second one never shipped. Called Amazon, not only will the second one be here tomorrow (free overnight shipping), but they extended my Prime renewal a month. I really can't complain I guess.

Wired in series for an 8 ohm load currently, so 300 watts running to it. Once under the floor and all of the carpeting reinstalled, it sounds damn good. Hits harder, extends deeper, can feel it through the car more since it's physically in contact with the metal floor of the car (makes it seem bigger and stronger), and once tweaked a little, blends better with the front stage.

The other one just showed up. I'll install it tonight at work after we close.

srbrubak 03-08-2018 04:40 PM

Today could have been warmer, but it was warm enough so I had 4 Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires put on my "Z". Now I just need to wait for it to get warmer.

ChopsZ 03-08-2018 09:33 PM

And here it is. I'll just have to do some minor tweaking over the next couple of days. So far... DAMN! And I'm not referring to sound quantity either, I'm referring to sound quality! Listening to some Marcus Miller and all of the detail in his bass is there. Anywho... I probably should go into the "audio" forum and do some write-up there about it.

Interesting, I could use those in my car. Did want to lose trunk space. What size are those bazooka tubes? 8"?

JARblue 03-09-2018 10:23 AM

I've been taking the Z out almost daily this week but just for short 15-30 minutes jaunts to and from the house.

Drove it to work today and have a few errands to run later. Crossing my fingers that the barely cranking battery and broken fuel pump top hat don't strand me somewhere :icon17:

JARblue 03-09-2018 10:26 AM

I did have a sputter of fuel starve on the way to the office this morning. With 80 miles on the tank

I went ahead and filled up at the Shell station by my office - it took 4 gallons to fill it lol

Thanks. I'll do a full write-up soon. I'm not even sure I have one started for my car anyway, so it's well past due!

Yes, they're 8's, dual 4 ohm wired in series/parallel for a final 4 ohm load to the amp, meaning a healthy 600 watts. And running two of them, they are so efficient, I had to back off the gain quite a bit on them to get a good blend with the front stage. Just crossovers, levels and time alignment is used. No EQ needed at this point.

Finally upgraded my stock tires to some wider tires - BFG G-Force Comp2 A/S. 245/45/R18, 275/40/R18. I guess new tires are slippery until you break them in, right? I hope so because I heard these were pretty sticky.

JLarson 03-09-2018 12:09 PM

Installed FI 12" resonated mid pipe, replacing my unresonated. With long tube headers, it was LOUD and had a lot of drone from 2200 - 2800 rpm, making it tough to drive for long distances (full disclosure: I really enjoyed it most of the time, but I do have to think of my wife occasionally). Also put on the z1 transmission mount.

The sound decrease is remarkable with the 12" resonators. I was stunned at what a difference it made. I'll miss shaking homes and small children, setting off car alarms as I cruise by, but the plus side is I no longer fear driving to Zdayz this May.

But the real hero here is the transmission mount. Love it! Way less movement from my trans, solid shifts, etc - you've heard it before, but it's all true. I'd previously installed the z1 bushing collars and I'm starting to get the cumulative benefits of these small mods. Next up are the diff bushings, but I'm not looking forward to that project ;)

ChopsZ 03-09-2018 02:20 PM

On my lunch break, installed LED licence plate lights while gassing up the Z. Will take a couple pics tonight... Naturally. LOL

A lil burn out helps. I tried them before and i was unfortunately not impressed with them. Scrapped for indy500s.

Re11s discontinued. Cries. Re71r... for street feels... bit overkill

I didn't realize the resonators made that much of a difference. I ordered mine with 12" resonators and it seems to be a good balance both inside and outside of the car.

As for the rear diff bushing... Yeah, it's a PITA if you do it laying on your back.

Did baseline dyno pulls. 4th gear on 7AT with just Mishimoto post MAF and drop in K&N. Wanted a bit of idea what I will gain when parts get in and get tuned. Managed 285 on first pull.
Next week, full Resonated HFC and 18" resonated TDX w/ carbon fiber, Stillen G3, and 34 row oil cooler come in. Following week tune is scheduled
