Default Empty slots in Spare Tire Area

Someone wrote, the other day, that the small space, next to his spare tire, was empty. His car was a 2010, as I recall. I apologize for being unable to find the thread, as that is where this posting belongs. In any event, that caused me to check my tire area. I have TWO empty recesses---one on each side of the spare tire. They are each a few inches long and seem to be carved precisely to accommodate an object of each of those respective shapes.
Included back there, in another slot, is the heavy, bright steel handled tool to screw in the lock nuts.
Are the above referenced spaces empty on all the other '09 370's or did someone forget to give me some items at delivery?
