2018 Nissan 370Z Heritage Edition Keeps The Z Fresh In Your Mind

Dirk McGurck 04-05-2017 08:59 AM

Quote:

The 2018 Nissan 370Z Heritage Edition commemorates the fact the Nissan Z Car turns 50 in two years.

You read correctly and that's an odd milestone, but don’t dwell on that too long. At least Nissan is throwing some fresh attention on this nearly decade-old design that carries the tradition of that original 240Z launched in 1969. And it’s much less expensive than the company’s other sports car, the monstrously powerful GT-R. So accept this offering while we wait for the long-promised follow-up Z car.

To that end, the Heritage Edition is a package for the coupe with some added graphics and color around modifications Nissan has bestowed on the 370Z for 2018. These include new lights front and rear, a revised grille and door handle treatment and the EXEDY high-performance clutch. Opting for the Heritage Edition pack on the base Coupe model then gets you Chicane Yellow paint with black graphics or Magnetic Black with silver graphics, both with a yellow and black interior scheme.

The Heritage Edition comes with the 3.7-liter V6 with 332 horsepower mated to either the standard six-speed manual or available 7-speed automatic.

The 2018 370Z and the Heritage Edition package will be shown next week at the New York Auto Show before they go on sale later this spring.

It looks like 17 year old me from 1998 got a hold of the interior.

Fearless_Z 04-05-2017 09:22 AM

This really just feels like a really, lousy, lazy, disrespectful slap in the face. Like...why?

B&W_Evader 04-05-2017 09:25 AM

Just so you can ask the local PD to pull you over. Yellow with strips! LOL... I do like the color matching interior accents though.

Dirk McGurck 04-05-2017 09:28 AM

I kinda like the finish on the door handles. And the headlights/taillights don't look different at all.

danegrey 04-05-2017 09:30 AM

umm, doesn't do anything for me, ok, no not ok

littlejuanito 04-05-2017 09:33 AM

What they should have released was the Nismo Roadster concept they presented last year.. Now, that was hot.

This looks more like one of Wiz Khalifa's rides.

Stright_Drop 04-05-2017 09:37 AM

lmao soo disrespectful

JARblue 04-05-2017 09:38 AM

Yellow stitching does not a new model constitute

I literally cant find anything that I like on that car. It seems riced out. I saw a ford mustang with pretty much the same details in mint green. This reminds me of that.

FPenvy 04-05-2017 09:43 AM

I'd love to just choke out jalopnik writers sometimes. Either they write how they do for click bait or they're just that misinformed.

Chuck33079 04-05-2017 09:43 AM

Why would they use a base for the special edition? Or do you have to order the special edition plus the sport package?

C'mon guys it was meant as an April fools joke.

Im not laughing btw :barf:

RanRich 04-05-2017 09:56 AM

******* garbage.

If we're all being honest, this car needs to die. Its nearing a production run TWICE as long as the 350Z, albeit with no significant refreshes or updates. The current line up of segment competitors have left it in the dust. Pretty sad considering it's favorable following for the first 3-4 years of production.

Louievee0413 04-05-2017 10:02 AM

That is the worst looking thing I have ever seen... :wtf:

muhnkey 04-05-2017 10:46 AM

Thats a sweet looking FRS 10-series. Looks like they finally beefed it up.........

Looks like they put the 15+ Nismo black housing headlights on all trims now. That's about 8 years overdue. The chrome has looked bad since 2009. As for tails, it looks like Nissan discovered spray can tint:

This is awful. I wish Nissan killed off the Z in 2016 after the refreshed Nismo. That should've been the last push. This is plain embarrassing.

100% agree, and not just for Nissan. I'm embarrassed to own a Z today.

MCDX 04-05-2017 12:02 PM

On the base only? Oh dear...
They must have plenty of 18inch rims, old radios and now maybe too much yellow paint left over :)
At least give that thing a spoiler and some special wheels.

Some colour stitching is never a bad thing, but good luck in keeping the knee pads clean from Jeans blue. :S

2018 370z Heritage Edition

The 2018 Nissan 370Z Heritage Edition Is A Reminder That Nissan Still Doesn

New Nissan 370Z Heritage Edition debuts at New York International Auto Show
Features 2018 370Z Coupe model enhancements – including refined exterior treatment and high-performance clutch (manual transmission)
Heritage Edition offered in choice of Chicane Yellow or Magnetic Black exterior colors, with yellow interior trim and custom graphics
Scheduled to arrive at Nissan dealers nationwide in spring 2017

Nissan disappoints Jalopnik again. Though I understand their perspective. They don't respect the versatile performance of the Z as most the muscle car crowd does not.

Nixin 04-05-2017 01:18 PM

IMHO, that Heritage Edition Z does look beyond brutal. Maybe it will work in the JDM? I can't see this going over that well in North America at all.

Sent to my miata-owning friend :rofl2:

*in his defense, the new ND miata is hilariously fun and easy to drive. However the joy went away when I entered an on-ramp.

Lol TBH I've heard they are a blast to drive. Their just fun, tiny cars without power

zguynate 04-05-2017 02:37 PM

Horrendous. What is Nissan thinking with this thing?

Miata's are like girls bicycles. They are fun to ride as long as your buddies don't see you ridding it!

Apparently Nissan was thinking that it would be a great way to unload a bunch of stickers, some yellow vinyl and the remaining excess inventory of chicane yellow.

barncobob 04-05-2017 02:45 PM

more lipstick on a pig...getting cheesy looking to me,love my Z but .....
