Why is the forum dead?
Why is the forum dead?
seemed like a few years ago there'd be new relevant posts and what not, now besides a handful of posters its pretty much dead. I know there are 370 owners out there, the cars just suddenly didn't vaporize.:tiphat: |
everyone mostly uses facebook groups now, which sucks for guys like me because I don't have or want a facebook account.
|
facebook 370z group is a joke, nothing but a bunch of teenagers posting how they bought a rear hatch louver to restrict an already limited view, or worse someone adding 22" rims on the car and asking whats the best next mod to gain some power.
I stay away from those pools. |
the issue with FB group is that you can't chose what to view, you have to view the 10 trash/senseless post to see that 1 more or less relevant one.
which is good for mark zuckerberg since you end up spending more time on there, but bad for everyone else. |
None of the clowns on FB know how to use the search button/Google, so every other post is how do I do this, or what is this, or im 16 and mommy and daddy gave me this...

Sorry, but I don't agree with the premise in the thread title. In fact, I still find it hard to keep up with the pace of this place.
As a 370z forum, I reckon it's alive and kicking. |
1. Nissan ain't done shyt new to talk about.
2. As grumpy old guy stated. Questions have been answered. 3. This has become more of a social site so people pop in and out and comment, more than actually participate. 4. Most of the hardcore enthusiasts bought other cars. 5. All the posers bought mustangs and BMW's.:roflpuke2::stirthepot: 6. There are a lot of used car rear window Louvre people posting threads here now and none of the OG's are not wanting to read it. 7. Lastly, the only news moving people is Z35 news. |

for example, in the exterior/interior subforum there are only three active threads today... aside from those three, the last post was 2 days ago. 3 years ago I would have been very surprised to see only 3 threads in that subforum to be active in a 24 hour period. |
Perhaps it is because of people asking why there aren't move relevant threads instead of making relevant threads.
Just sayin' |
WAIT TILL SPRING AND SUMMER! Then you will see all sorts of failures and add-ons and of course.......MORE PICTURES. ;)
Right now, it's still snowing in the Northern hemisphere. LOL. You get my point. It's seasonal. (maybe) |
I found a wonderful recipe for baked Cod, delicious. PM, ill be happy to share.

I agree on the activity But WE still have plenty of folks coming on board.
The fact that most of all the basic questions have been asked leads most newbs to simply search. IF this place was really dying WE wouldn't have an average of 100-200 members and 500-700 guests in here most of the time. I see that most here are regular low to no posting members as well as the OG crew who we also have had a decline, But thats normal for all car forums as people move on so all in all compared to others we're still all right. Will see what arrives at the Tokyo auto show later this year and will see another uptick in activity as we include the NEW Z wether it'll be here as an inclusion model brand or on its own site? AK will decide the direction. Im hoping for good NEWS finally! as the current Z34 has gotten long in the tooth :ugh2: |

I don't post as much as I used to since Apple did away with RSS feeds in Safari and Mail.
It was a whole lot easier to see new threads and/or posts with that method. |
Our cars are reliable, and every imaginable mod has been long sorted out. How many exhaust, intakes, lowerings and sound systems can you do over?
Most Z people do not track their cars. On our Lotus site, Lotustalk, our cars are prone to niggles and most of us mod for lap times not cars shows. We just had a new model, the 400, out this year. There aren't a lot of sites over here for Lotus. We be pretty busy there. If/when a new model comes along things will pick up. |
Forums are dying breed
I belong to a few Motorcycle forums and its the same as here , FB and other social media kinda killed these places Look at the stats as of now 3:56 PT Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread: 15 (8 members and 7 guests) |
I just wish that more people came to the forum to give me advice on the Rockstar truck wheels I want for my Z. :( Bonus points for what camber I have to run to fit the 24's!
|
Just my two cents....
This forum SAVED me from walking down a path I am thankful I did not..... I was in a F*cking Subaru dealership about to grab a '17 STI Limited.... But the NISMO,,,, and you lovely folks.... saved me <3 I love you all. Sincerely, A 29 year old ******* from Boston |

if you were, you would see that the forum is alive and well |
Yea, its dead...so what?
I owned a Hellcat and that place was really active all the time with problems, and supercharger melt downs and new stupid modifications. This car is reliable so no drama all we have is a silly 2k fix CSC...that is really no big deal compared to the performance cars I have had - so I am loving it. Plus this car is easy as hell to work on, service manual is available for download, and old threads basically are all you need making the forum still a great resource. ... Let me ad that I have owned tons of cars in my life and this one is my favorite from all aspects ... all those idiots who moved on or so called "upgraded" no they didn't. Until you own the options - you will want them, but once you have you wont...:ugh:. |
The site may not be quite as active as it once was but, as mentioned above, it's an eight year old model (with only very minor changes through the years) and most of the problems have been thoroughly discussed. It is far from being dead, though. Still one of my favorite places on the Web and I haven't owned a Z in several years.

:iagree: now its too late to sell a 370 at a decent price. But with all honesty my Z still never stop to amuse other people and I still find it as one of the most beautiful sports cars ever designed. I'll probably keep mine and my son will inherit it. |
I've been a member for less than a year so I can't really speak on what this forum may have been in the past, but in that brief time it has been an extremely valuable resource to me. I check in on a daily basis and try to contribute as much as often as I can. Perhaps things aren't what they once we're but complaining never solved anything either.

Hahaha. I'm glad I am not the only one that despises the Facebook group. Full of noobs who have never worked on a car themselves. Every other day there are posts about "Has anyone used spacers before?" or "Has anyone wrapped their roof?" Literally, no one knows how to use Google and no one believes-in their own opinion; everyone asks "what wheels should I get?" or "What exhaust should I get?" Seriously...do your own research and pick what you like. The only reason I stay in it is because of the occasional cool car pictures :/

From my experience the fakers die in winter like bugs. Too cold. Then in spring the hardy that survive come back. Less and less each year. Oh well.
|
Thank goodness with NSFW of Mishuko or this forum is dead! Lol
|
I hate Facebook and I can't stand Twitter. Who ever said anything of any value in fewer than 140 chara
