I'd say the fact that this thread has over 3 pages of replies in under 24 hours may suggest that the thread title is slightly inaccurate.
I've been on dead forums, so I recognise death when I see it. This forum's just relaxing a bit, from the frantic entity it used to be. |
Its just relaxing before the warm weather, a very active forum,
compared the Genesis Coupe (which is the DD) form I am also on.. |

Ive given the Genesis Track edition a look or 2
Any good for track abuse ? |
There's more traffic here than on the Ducati forum I'm a part of. The problem with forums like this one is that it's specific to the 370z, not Z cars in general. So when the current model get old (like it has), people lose interest. And when the Z35 eventually comes out, it will be even worse because enthusiasts will move on. I saw it back in 2012 when the 1199 Panigale replaced the 1198 Testastretta, and I expect to see it again here.

I think the reason this forum is relatively low-power is the incessant advertising. Click on "New Posts" and what I get, at least 50% of the time, is post after post after post of every mom and pop performance shop in the country hawking their spacers, turbos, FI, exhausts...etc etc etc. Wading through all the advertising posts just gets tiresome.

Maybe it seems like a dying breed, but only true enthusiasts will keep forums alive. I just can't take FB serious.. way too many dumb questions from lazy people who refuse to google and it's all just a cluster of questions/posts. Forums will be kept alive by true enthusiast and keep the kids with the 24" rims out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
I agree with the many dumb questions posted in FB. Many are clueless so I wonder how they got their license to drive.
The forum is a great resource. Many just lurk, not participate but get a lot of info if they need to know how to fix things or find out what's going on with their Z. Doesn't mean it's dead. Many enjoy seeing what other members have done with their Zs. Some are quite competitive. It's a cool place. This place is alive since I keep meeting people from the forum and drink beer and eat burgers with them. I also make sure they get chopsticks on certain occasions. Bottom line for me is I get out what I put in. |

Not to mention last year I went to zdayz and met many more members. Made some great friends. Finally seeing people I've always chatted with here. This community is a legit enthusiast crowd. |
Opinions are like a--holes.
Everybody has one... Here is mine about forums. Having been a car guy for many decades,I've been active member of many forums. Forums evolve. As a long time Z owner,I have seen z33 forums go to crap. The top(it seems)z33 forum,MY350Z,went from guys doing major mods, full body kits etc. to the kids coming off Civics.Big topics were what color lights in your interior and LED conversion--everywhere. 350z Tech is dead. If it were not for ads from the LED guy,it would close down. I think this forum compared to others is quite active. For sure, slower at times due to the cold seasons. In addition, from a few years ago,z34 owners were not prone to do major mods on their cars. Now with earlier model 370's selling at affordable prices, the Civic GUYS(like what they did for the 350's)are upgrading to a z34. Bunch of for sale stuff. Not much in the way of tips on fixes from guys that know is what I see. Again, evolution. Looks alive&well to me. |
If anyone wants more traffic then go join a mustang forum or a dodge charger forum, and buy one of those cars while you’re at it. exclusivity rules! Oxymoron intended!
