Here's the thread on that: Don't Use Nissan OEM Oil Filters (Long Post - Lotsa Pics) - MyG37

Personally I've decided to use Purolators...

I change my own for the cost of the mobil 1, a K&N filter and the drain plug washer. Don't forget yer magnets!

D.I.Y. 'Nuff said! BTW, the Pureone/Purolator advice is right on the nose. It's THE best oil filter out there! And it costs less than the
crappy OEM one.

Same as that, except Mobil1 for me...

1010, I think is the part number. 1008 is the OEM size, I think...

If you want to put the wider tires on the front and the narrower ones on the rear, get back to us on how it behaves.

But you can rotate sideways, feels the same...:rofl2:

My salesman didnt know that it was more when I bought my Z and he gave me a quote of $39 for my first change and when I brought it in the service rep had to talk to the sales people who then had to compensate for the extra $$$ to honor my quote, which was in writing.

so for ester oil, how often do you change the oil? do nissan dealers carry that or it has to be special order online?

:confused:olive oil or lard, don't you love your Z. If you are gonna do the $39 i suggest changing every 500 miles. Think of your oil as bath water:ughdance:

My dealer offers free tires for life as long as all my maintenance work is done there.

I still haven't gotten the first change yet but I'm wondering if it would just be cheaper to do it myself and buy the tires when I'll need them.

Any ideas?

a set of tires costs a small fortune. do the math, check Tire Rack online, then compare that to the cost of how many oil changes you plan on over 12k-15k miles

I'm not understanding your logic here. Tires will last much longer than 12-15k miles.

Which tires are you talking about? The high-performance, sticky tires on a Z? Or a set on a Smart car?

Dammit, thread O/T sorry.

Hmmm not sure if serious.

Brother in law has 37k (two weeks ago) and running on the same set of tires and no.... they aren't showing retread. Not too mention my Mustang has a set of stickys that are sitting at 27k and looking more than fine.

Did you experience this mileage first hand with your tires?
