Well the other poster may drive a Prius... I don't know. In ways I'll miss that car. It was a nice car, and going ~800 miles before needing to fill up was nice. However VW buying it back for more than I paid for it was a deal that I couldn't pass up.

Ford Ranger... though its more of a rain vehicle here in central FL than a winter one.

The Z, an '11 model year Touring Sport, is one of the winter beaters in my household; my wife loves her Z, so she drives it year round. My winter beater varies from one winter to another, but nowadays it's an '85 Corvette with 67k miles, it has Z51 package, a Doug Nash 4+3, and a set of winter tires. Usually, mine is a full-size GM pickup, the past two winters they were a Short Crew '15 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE Z71 2WD (5.3l, 6-speed) and a Standard Crew '16 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT 4WD (5.3l, 8-speed).

Actually, this winter it could be the '17 (Short Crew SLT 4WD with 6.2l and 8-speed), but I committed the '85 and I'm enjoying it.

2013 Fiat 500 Abarth. With winter tires it does amazingly well, even here in Colorado.

2013 was the last of the 'good ones' I gather. Apparently Abarth was skirting the emissions rules with the sport button, but then CARB caught on and they could no longer use the Magneti Marelli sourced ECU. So tuning a 2014+ is hellish.

Mine is lightly modified with an ATP 3 downpipe and high-flow 200-cell cat, EC V4.1 intake, Forge FMIC, GFB DV+, 4C coils and Brisk silver racing plugs, ported TB, an E+D phase 2 tune, wilwood brakes, and a full Bilstein B14 coilover set. There's also the rear seat delete and a strict weight loss plan which bring it to roughly 2100lbs.

It makes north of 200hp, which is good for mugging other cars you'd never expect - and that's always good for a laugh.

I flog the hell out of the thing and it's been flawless, and it's about as close as you can get to a sportbike and still have doors... And still be cheap enough to essentially be disposable.

Overall I'm of the opinion that if you've got $18k laying around, it's hard to go wrong with an Italian Shelby.

2014 Subaru Legacy 2.5i. It comes off lease in June with well under the allotted miles. I'll be buying it out, because winter is my bitch in that thing.
