Got rear ended for the 3rd time

Second I saw LA in OP's profile, I figured. Yeah if insurance lets you have it, dat Nismo bumper. Though it's gonna suck if another moron hits it. I've rambled

I've rambled about how a lot of people shouldn't be driving for safety and ethical reasons, but another point to make is it's pretty...disrespectful for such people to just go about not giving a mind to everyone else's major investments. It's like stepping on someone's shoes....but exponentially more worth involved.

3rd time? That sucks

You can only do so much about the idiot behind you, but FWIW here are a few options:
  • Give yourself significantly more braking distance - I know this can be tough to do in urban traffic
  • Add flashing brake light (The Home Of Flashing Brake Lights)
  • A ridiculous rear bumper guard (Rear Bumper Protector | Rear Bumper Guard) - for parking really, not driving
  • Racing brake pads that squeal like crazy under anything other than threshold braking when hot
  • Downshifting early with loud exhaust
370zHawaii, PaulZ370, ped and 2 others like this.

Here in Manitoba, Canada rear ending is a sport. I haven't had new car in 20 years that hasn't been hit by somebody not paying attention to what they are doing. Also, here in Manitoba the police will not come to most accidents (nor are they required to by the province) so the settlement process can end up a he says/she says situation.
My Z has been hit twice in 5 years.

My girlfriend recently go rear ended in her Miata. The woman that hit her claimed the Miata was so small she didn't see it. Another clueless SUV driver. I swear they are the worst. Replaced the minivan drivers as the most dangerous on the road.

You know.....I genuinely thought about that. But all 3 rear end collisions occurred when I was at a FULL STOP!!!! It's not like I braked hard causing the ABS to go off. I came to every stop at a very slow and calm manner, minding my own business annndddd BOOM!! I had 3 rear end incidents and 1 car backing out on to my door. Total of 4 incidents, at other party's fault, were all by women. Now, whenever a women with her car approaches my car, I get really paranoid. Do you guys blame me?

Maybe an insulting bumper sticker would get their attention? Something like:

Yep, even good drivers have bad luck.

Years back at a stop light in my G35C, dead stopped for approx. 15 seconds, rear ended by a tourist in a Mustang. A few years later, filling gas at a station once, a minivan bangs the rear bumper of my GTI! Cell phones and in attentive drivers
Ghostvette and NISMO IX like this.

something small like that, I'd just have the guilty party give me 500 bucks cash (or however much you want) and move on with life...since you filed insurance, it'll take a while for payout, all of OUR insurance rates will go up, and you're going to have an accident on your carfax (car value go bye bye)

It'll show up on a carfax for something this small?

any accident that you file a claim for with insurance and get a police report gets added to your carfax report. it'll take a while to show up on there though so you might not see it right away
