Is the 370Z as hard as the 350...

As long as you don't want to change the spark plugs it's fine. Tinkering with most bits aren't a problem.

Aren't the spark plugs right on top?

Not as bad as some cars actually, like the cars that have the rear of the engine buried in the firewall.

They are right on top of each rocker cover under the ignition coils, but you have to remove a few things to get there including the electronic throttle bodies.
