I would say you need to learn how to drive your car a bit more cautiously and be more aware of your surrounds and road conditions.
In my 23+ years of driving, only once did I ever scuff a wheel or body panel. And when I did, this is how it happened...  And why it happened?... The idiot across the street pulled out in front of me (seen in background). I was doing 35 mph, he was doing 50 and we had a near head-on collision.
