Does your Z attract the attention of law enforcment?
The other day i was driving around town in my Nismo with my lights off because it was still day light out and i was pulled over and ticketed for having my lights off 20 minutes past sundown.:icon14: It is my fault for not having my lights on auto mode but i dont think it would have mattered since it was still very much light out. I feel as though in a normal situation in a different car i would have just been told to turn my lights on or i wouldnt have been pulled over at all but since i was in my Z i feel as though i was targeted and cited. Very petty.
Does anyone else receive this petty behavior from law enforcement or am i just unlucky? |
Knock on wood no, but the z is a flashy car, do you have tints on it? More than likely was looking for bigger things (fishing) other than having your headlights not on. Where abouts in pa are your from?

i actually bought my z off of a cop ?
sounds like ther was other factors here bc a tix for lights after sunset is crazy talk |
I have a black all stock f150 4door lariat and my Z. The Z definitely attracts cops more than the truck. I live in south texas where everyone has trucks. Ive been pulled over for "no front plate" even though the plate was on, going 56 in a 55 (no ticket given). I have a front and rear dash cam and he told me they were illegal radar jammers. So long story short, yes especially in Texas a bright blue Z attracts pigs.

I don't think the 370z or corvette or Porsche drivers get ticketed as much as the Mustang, Camaro and other American muscle cars do. Also, I think the 350Z drivers these days get more tickets.
Basically, the 370Z, Corvettes, Porches are driven by older white males, mostly rich. Fast cars driven by younger males get more tickets. Older sports car that are modded (big wings or loud exhausts) are also likely to get tickets. |
Bright red NISMO, no problems so far. <knocks on wood>

When the cop printed a warning for my excessive 1mph over speeding, it said 350z on it.... not sure if just stupid or hes trying to sneak in a passive aggressive insult |

Nothing like my 1990 300zxtt did. That car was a cop magnet.

Honestly unless you're rices out you don't attract any attention unless you're doing something to attract attention. I've been LE for 23yrs and 8 of those were in traffic on a motorcycle. Cars that I ha
got on my nerves were Prius, Smart Cars and any Minivan. BTW......I drive a BP boosted 15' Nismo. |
where you get stats on most ticketed cars?
|
Lexus ES 300, 33%
Nissan 350Z, 33% Dodge Charger SE/SXT, 32% Volkswagen Jetta GL, 31% Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS/LT, 31% Mazda 3S, 30% Volkswagen GTI, 30% Dodge Stratus SXT, 30% Acura 3.0s, 30% Toyota Tacoma, 30% |
Buick Encore, 3%
Lexus IS350, 3% Acura ILX, 6% Cadillac ATS, 6% Chevrolet Express, 8% Cadillac Escalade, 8% GMC Savana, 9% Audi A3 2-Series, 9% BMW 320I, 10% Land Rover Range Rover, 11% |

You were in violation of the law so I do not think it was "petty". A bit of self-education will help you better adhere to the law and avoid future "profiling". Here is a link to the Pennsylvania Driver's Manual to get you started. https://www.dot.state.pa.us/Public/D...h/PUB%2095.pdf I am here to help. |
My youngest son came home one night when he was 17 claiming he had been profiled by the CHP and ticketed for speeding.
I asked why he thought he was profiled and he said that he was young, driving a Z (one of my 280ZX's) and that he had long hair. I asked him if he was going faster than everyone else and he said yes. I said "there you go, you were profiled...CHP profiles speeders". |

Well, IMHO mine tends to attract more LE attention than my Malibu did, but then again, it might be because I was driving a little faster than I should. :icon14:
But in a sea of black, white and silver cars.... blue tends to stand out... |

Yes,our car attracted the Cop easily, esp we changed Exhausts, they would stop us,despite the Exhausts are approved type..
|
It's not the car. It's that cops in the northeast.

I've actually gotten positive reactions from LE. I run into the same officers every morning at the deli near my office, and we always talk cars.
|
The only attention mine has drawn so far is not long after I bought it, my wife and I were inside a strip center store when a local cop pulled up, walked inside the store and loudly asked whose red Z was parked outside.
He just wanted to talk to me about the car and ask whether he should consider buying one. We shot the breeze for about 20 minutes. Crime was running rampant for a short while. |

I routinely drive in PA with my lights on all the time during the day in my jeep and my Z. More cause I want to be seen by other drivers. I haven't felt singled out by law enforcement, (and I used to be one) because I don't drive in a manner to draw attention to myself.

I had an s2000 with a loud exhaust system, roll cage with the top down and usually speeding 10 over, never ever got pulled over. Switched to the 370z, same driving habits (no weaving in traffic or quick pulls, just higher coasting) and I've been pulled over 4 times in the past 3 months.
No tickets though. |

In fact, I would say LEOs have been very fair to me in the Z. I've got a number of warnings, and only two tickets. Both tickets I was going 15+ over and the cop wrote the ticket for <10 over. Several of them complemented the car as well  And I speed everywhere. Not recklessly. Just fast. |

To be honest, my car is loud (HFC's and Short Tails) and has the tire rack sticker on the windshield and illegally dark tint (18 on sides and 5 on rear) and I've never so much as been pulled over in the year and a half I've owned the car.
