Default Rear end gear noise

I read lots of posts about clicking, not my question though. My 2012 touring M6 emits a gear sound from the rear diff when low rpm in 1st gear. Not grinding, just gear sounds. Is this normal? Just bought car with 10k miles. Should I change diff gear oil? Recommendations and any dyi steps?

the clicking is literally just that. a click. I have yet to fix mine and makes my car sound ghetto.

even if you're cruising at lower speeds if you listen carefully as you let off the gas it should click and when you gas again it'll click again.

ive had the clicking, thats from the axles. nissan can regrease them but it will eventually come back. i think my dealer does it without asking as it will go away and come back 1/2 year later then goes away again.

that is a higher pitched tick sounds as the car accelerates or decelerates ( when the body shifts its weight ). OP does that sound right?

if this is the sound its been an issue for a while ( notice g35 and 350z had it )

i just reread what you posted, you said not the click sound. OP can you get a video of the sound or find an example on youtube? The 370z engine and transmission on these cars are very noisy, but there is plenty of knowledge to help you here

1st gear is definitely noisy almost sound like straight cut gear. on the other hand differential gear makes a lot of noise and people had mistaken it for a supercharger on mine, but I had installed SPL solid diff bushings. it shouldn't be that pronounced with everything stock and interior ungutted, but again the sound level is all relative from person t operson. does the sound pitch get higher even after you change gear to 2nd? or pitch starts again low when u go in 2nd?

I bet this in not you rear making the clicking noise Its you wheels. mags click sometimes. why I haven't figured it out yet but 3 of my cars have had the clicking noise. From three different co's.

Really only hear it in low rpm in 1st gear, like creeping through a parking lot. Doesn't sound bad, just not used to it I guess. Today I changed the diff oil with Lucas 75-90 full synthetic. Bought the car with only 10k on it so it was likely oem filled. Fair amount of break-in goo on the magnet. Initial impression sounds quieter, I'll know more with some miles

I think its normal, its like the sound of the throttle plate opening or something but in the exhaust.
