Are you thinking aftermarket bumper?

I am going through my insurance since they don't have any insurance on their end, I probably will end up ordering a front bumper from dealership so the paint would match (is that true?) or really look for a decent body shop. Ultimate goal is to obviously get a new front bumper ie aftermarket ones, but I'm not going to file false claims for my insurance company. So I'll take whatever they give me lol.

Thanks for everyone's support, I will keep posting in this thread as to what's going to happen and what the cost of everything is as well. Fingers crossed that they'll pay me cash to fix it and also I'm considering going after the company as well to sue them for hiring people with no license and to let them operate vehicles.

^ You should. Anybody else would and you could’ve gotten injured, the damage could have been worse, or if you weren’t there imagine what could have happened if they backed up into moving traffic or a person?

this really upsets me to no end......wow hope it all gets fixed soon

Sorry to see the damage.....best of luck!!

First thing that ran through my mind was: use your insurance company to fix the car and then personally sue the company for the amount they reduced your car's worth. A car in an accident is worth less than one that has not been in an accident.

But...lawyers cost money, there will be additional stress and possibly not as much compensation as should occur. Something to weigh.

Another thought.....go Carbon Fiber  could be a good alternative?

Wow... That sucks. I didn't read every post cause I'm really tired, but I hope you have uninsured motorist insurance. That's REALLY important here in Southern California. Statistically, 40% of people don't have insurance anymore. Rates have gone up because people have dropped comprehensive insurance thanks to this economy. So people just can't afford insurance here.

It's good that the cops got them, but there's not much you can get out of it. They'll probably sit in a cell for a few days but getting money out of them is a nightmare and almost never happens. The fact that they didn't have a license is just lame. My ex-gf's parents came here illegally, so her mom didn't have a driver's license and since she's never had an accident or ticket (which is amazing since that was 27 years ago).

Good luck with the repairs and I hope the car looks PERFECT when it comes back.

Have you spoken to the owner of the vehicle/company yet? With the money he saves by employing illegal immigrants, he really shouldn't have a problem reimbursing you for all of your damages. This again coming from an Accountants point of view.

That's what I see. Maybe the styrofoam piece, maybe a couple other peices. Still will be around $1500, I bet.

Find out who your dealer uses for paint work. Make sure they know you expect nothing less than it being as good or better than when you bought it.

Also, let them (the company that does the paint) that they will not receive payment until you've had it for a few days to make sure that you've had a chance to see that it matches up under different lighting conditions.

I'd also get recommendations from your insurance company - but, be aware that they won't pay for the best, they'll pay for the least costing option that will shut you up and make you go away...unless you push them...sometimes hard - but, sometimes they'll know who's good and who's not...just depends. You might also have luck looking on the web for reviews of some of the more popular places. Lastly, call around. Sad part is there are a lot of shady places out there, but, there are some good ones.

I had the dealer correct some chips on my hood - they outsource it to a local company. They did a good job, so, I'll probably continue using them for paint issues.

Whatever company you choose, meet with their manager, and establish a working relationship with that person. Let that person know your expectations. If they don't give you warm-fuzzies, question them. In fact, question them anyway. Make them know you care about your vehicle, and don't "just drive it"...

Sorry to hear about your car. Mine got backed up into also and it's just a pain. I would definitely go after the company, even if the drivers didn't have insurance, the company should have coverage since it was in their names. It's going to cost a little over $1000 if it's just the bumper.

JakeZ34 11-23-2009 06:15 PM

update! so after couple of body shop trips and appraises I finally found a great place in HB to do it, the whole estimate comes about $1500 since they have to replace my headlight too, and they havn't check suspension work either but chances are they are damaged because my car was treadlining the road very badly, had to apply a lot of force to correct the car back, and also I told the bodyshop not to paint the fang area so I will have the fangs blacked out :D But as far as I'm concern, my insurance has taken care of everything and I don't pay a penny.

dad 11-23-2009 06:30 PM

Ask the boby shop, if they can paint the fangs black, and have the insurance pay.

ho6950 11-23-2009 06:41 PM

At least you got everything taken care of for free ofcourse and that's all that matters

areyouin729 11-24-2009 12:52 PM

some dumb lady did this to my 350Z in the rear, her Honda Pilot left a golf ball size hole in my drivers rear bumper
