Plastic ring on steering column?

While I was changing out my cats to HFCS, I'm pretty sure half of the ring on the steering column bar snapped off. Should I be worried?

If nobody comes up with a good answer, the FSM can tell you.

This is below the drivers side intake, near the cat to header bolts.

I would be VERY worried. Highly Recommend a trip to the Dealership to have this checked out and fixed. They don't put those on for looks....

Oh and ... Drive Very Carefully!

I looked through the parts catalogue and cannot find it. My local dealer had no idea what it was. Go figure, off to another...

It looks like a plastic bushing which might help take slack out of the steering wheel? I'd definitely try to get it replaced asap.

I'd venture a guess that it's part of the collapsible column mechanism. Whether it affects normal operation or otherwise, I have no clue.

Oddly enough, I couldn't even find the part through the dealership. But you're right, it looks the same. I'll double check tonight to make sure it's not loose or anything. Thanks a ton guys, I really appreciate it. I hated driving like a grandma lol

Car manufacturers sell many "parts" as assemblies. You have to buy the whole assembly instead of being able to purchase the individual parts.

You might want to try Courtesy Parts. They seem to have a large selection of parts and have diagrams for IDing what you have.
