20's. 40's +. Who's buying their Z's

I have finally got to a point where it is time to buy MY car, and I've chosen the Z. I just want to know how many seasoned and less seasoned folks have Z's. Keep in mind.... I envy the youngsters, but I on the older end of the spectrum, empathize with the seasoned folks.

Never would have even thought to look this topic up to be honest. The Datsun 240 came out before I was born. The 350Z captured my heart but I didn't see a need for a sports car when you could buy a Hayabusa for a third the price and go faster. To be honest after my 2014 ZX14R, that thing just permanently had the devil on my shoulder, did I finally venture to buy a sports car. Now in my 40's and my good friend bought himself a 350Z Roadster I finally pulled the trigger on a Z. I think I waited just the right amount of time because the 15/16 Nismo 370Z is the sexist thing on four whelels. I love this car and it is and will be my DD.

From what I have experienced here in the forum, Looks like Z owners are in between 30s - 60s. It's nice to know that people here are respectful and mature. (occasional bad apples surface here from time to time)

I'm in my early 40's. I get confused for being mid 20's 95% of the time lol. (Great genetics) so how do I answer. LMAO

New young Z owner

I'm 24 and just bought my own Z. Saw the very first prototype in the factory years before it came out. Bought with my own money, and absolutely love the car :D

barncobob 04-24-2016 05:27 AM

old fart here, love the Z, im not gonna drives a Camry,,im going down swinging and shifting:eekdance:

Silverstone 04-24-2016 06:58 AM

26+ seems to be the general population, no? The age at which the insurance cost is reasonable could strongly contribute.

Ok..

BoneZ 04-24-2016 07:04 AM

The mean age here was a bit older than I expect.

ayrton88 04-24-2016 07:12 AM

I just turned 65. I've been a sports car enthusiast all my life. My biggest fear is getting arthritis so bad that I'll have to buy an automatic. I know autos are getting better but whenever I drive my winter beater, which is an automatic, it is just soooo boring.

old guy 04-24-2016 07:36 AM

< l was 58 when l got mine, going to be 6o in June. Almost bought a 350 in 07 and kinda of glad l didn't, heard of the restyling coming in 09 and I'm glad l waited. I think the new body style is sooooo much sweeter! IMHO its sex on wheels.
I was at the grocery store yesterday and parked next to a 350 roadster, ( looking it over) was really glad l waited for the restyle!

I turned 70 in March and love my Z (2014 Base Auto). Can still get in and out with no problem. Wife is not so enthusiastic but she tolerates it. Enjoy sports cars. Our daily driver is a Toyota Avalon.

DYNAZOR 04-24-2016 10:58 AM

I bought my first Z (2012 model) at age 60. When it hit 40,000 miles I traded it in on a 2015 Z, and when it hits 40,000 I'll probably trade it in on whatever the newest Z model is.

Age 64 now.

I had my first Z at 25, and after 3 Z cars later at 37, Im looking forward to the next one. However, if the Z35 has less than 400 hp, I'm going with a Porsche 911 or M4.

IBTL, This wont end pretty, pretty much agreed not to mention age on the forum unless your 30+ otherwise it turns into a bi**ing match about how "Young people" shouldnt have a sports car. Unfortunate TBH

I have no problem with you young'ns having sports cars. Because you are the future on how things turn out. Your input now will direct designers how future cars will look like. Take a look at tuner cars from a few years ago, and look at some of the designs coming out today. A lot of influence.

As for the forum. You have to act mature when posting. If you act like a snot nose kid full of himself. Yeah, expect to get slammed.

BboyZ 04-24-2016 03:31 PM

We can probably all agree, that they are thing age does not matter, and I believe Cars is one of them. LOL

i bought my first 370z when i was 19... i was just about to turn 20 when i bought it. I actually wanted to buy a WRX STI or Audi S4 but one day i was putting HIDs in my Civic with a friend and his brother came and he had a 2011 370z. when he pulled up i loved the sound of the exhaust and the look of it was just beautiful. afterwards about 2 months later i was looking to buy my self a sports car for the summer, so i test drove one. i must say i loved it. that same day i also test drove an STI and a S4 but i just didn't get the sporty feeling i wanted! Now i am very happy with my purchase. i am still paying it off but it is my weekend car only now i have an 09 370z with only 57,000 kms on it so it still has lots of life left :P

Pretty close the same as me. I was 19 when I got my first and only other sports car, a 1957 Triumph TR3 (small-mouth front). I'm now 65 and bought my cool looking '12 Z last Sept. Didn't want to fit the classic mould of "old white guys drive 'vettes and ride Harley's (I also ride a '74 Norton 850 Commando Roadster I bought new).

You & I are scary close. My first car was a 1958 TR3. I had a 72 (I believe) Norton 750 commando hi rider. I'm 68 now & loving my second Z.

Nixin 04-24-2016 05:56 PM

Bought my first '16 Z at 40-something. I do not believe it will be my last Z.

Dirk McGurck 04-24-2016 05:59 PM

27, about to turn 28. The Facebook page is a much younger demographic.

2007 VFR RWB 25th Anniversary Edition. Full Ohlins suspension, Brembo brakes, A&A Perf Supercharger. :D Sold not long ago, a '03 RC51. Should have kept that bike.

Here Here !!

Dwight Frye 04-25-2016 05:40 PM

I'll be 61 in a few weeks. I have driven pretty much nothing but sports cars since I was about 20. The last time I had a car with an automatic transmission was in 1982. If I ever buy an old guy car like a Buick or Ford sedan you may as well hang a tag on my big toe because I'm done.

Adamnthe_z 04-25-2016 06:40 PM

I'm 26 going on 27, and I've had my Z for almost 6 months now.

Ghostvette 04-26-2016 09:25 AM

I learned to drive on a 71 240Z, had 3 Camaros, 2 Vettes and I bought my 2012 2 years ago when I was almost 58. I'll turn 60 in October, and I'm looking at a Cayman S for the next car (keeping the Z). From here on out, if it has more than 2 doors, I ain't interested (well, except for a Juke or Rogue to haul tires).

zguynate 04-26-2016 10:45 AM

I bought my 350z at 21 the week I graduated the police academy. Then I got my 370z at 24 after my 350z was totaled from being rear ended by a drunk driver. I'll be 28 in May.

Z in the 6 04-26-2016 01:19 PM

The 350 captured my heart as a sporty import when I was younger and wanted one for the longest time, finally at the age of 27 I had the employment and the disposable income to afford the car of my dreams... bought the 370 and have not regretted it for a minute. I'm 28 now... I could see a nismo in my future but I'll be buying a house before that happens
