Just turned 48. Bought my first z 30 years ago..

gonzales25 04-26-2016 02:13 PM

Good to know I'm not the only old guy here (46).. Bought my first Z 2 years ago, 2014 Roadster just now getting around to adding mods.

Zerafian 04-26-2016 02:36 PM

Just like the 350z or any nice, mid range "sports" car, most owners would be in their 30s to 50s the first few years that the car is released. After that the age starts to drop due to them being cheaper and cheaper.

Only reason I can say that is I watched it happen with the 350z. When I bought my old one in 05'. It was rare to see them still and most owners, not all, were at least 10 years older then me, stupidly bought mine at 22.

MagmaRed370z 04-26-2016 03:23 PM

This is my 3rd Z. Im glad that everybody is enjoying their Z :driving:

All the best,

Now that you've owned both, what's your impression .... Looks, feel, drive?

Something about the 350z felt more analog, if that makes sense. But the 370z is more refined in every way. The interior is much better quality. It is much quicker (I had the vq35de). The 350z seems more sleek in appearance. The 370 looks meaner though. I've had my 370z for 4 years now and I love it. But I still also have love for the 350z. I'd like to buy another one of the wife would let me.

Mike 04-26-2016 06:29 PM

I bought my 370 (my 8th, and I bought my 9th at 47 an 86 GLL) at age 44. I'm now 50 and still have it, but its a dedicated track car now and I daily drive a Porsche and a Ram.

My impressions exactly! And it's understood the love for the old 350

It's not a very expensive car, up to $40k with tax, but with only the two seats, most of us over 30 still need to have at least one other if not two other cars for the family, so I think plenty of older family men types like me get this car in their 40s. I'll be adding a 4th car to the growing family soon...well maybe buying a corvette or R8 and passing the Z down to the next teenager.

44 here :p

Jgghanem 05-01-2016 02:51 PM

23 here. Wanted a Z since I was 19, but only upgraded in the past month. Waiting on Nissan to release the 2017 or 2018 next-gen Z so I can buy that. They're taking forever though...

KrnAndy 05-01-2016 03:05 PM

I'm 20, paying off my own z as well!

jaedub 05-01-2016 04:38 PM

I believe location is also a key variable. Where I live, semi-hipster part of LA, I mostly see people in their 20s to 30s driving the Zs. I also see lots of women in their late 30s-40s. I got my Z when I was about 20 with the help of my parent's generous down payment. I took care of the rest.

nomodsjk 05-01-2016 10:05 PM

I bought my first z, the one i have now, when i was 30

markesc 05-02-2016 09:41 PM

I'm 38....

Love the Z!

bhandy 05-02-2016 10:25 PM

45, owned 2 audis, 2 corvettes (95&99), 944 porsche, father just bought a 2014 stingray vette. Cars in my blood, the Z is by far the best! Cannot beat it for the money and I love passing the 911 owners with a big grin. Past corvette autocrosser, NCCC racer. Will autox the Z too.

Spstone 05-02-2016 10:52 PM

31 for this one. I had a 280 at 17 and a 300ZX TT at 20. I love Z's though. Than again I've owned every thing from an '89 lotus esprit to a bagged, body dropped and shaved full custom '84 toyota hardbody. If it has wheels I can generally find a reason to like it and have fun with it.

tblas14 05-03-2016 02:52 AM

almost 38 here. LOVE the Z! and just finished installing an air suspension. LOVIN' it even more so :icon17:

I wanted an RC 51 at one time (my friend had a Suzuki TLR) but the local dealer just wouldn't get real with the price. There was talk of them being discontinued then they decided to add one more year. I was trying to buy it saying it wasn't something all that rare now that they were going to extend production. They acted like it was the last one on the planet. Went and bought a 2003 GSX1000R instead, then a ZX 10R.

Just turned 61.

57 here. 1st Z, picked up a 2014 370 touring sport last month.

ZGASM 05-03-2016 03:01 PM

28, wanted one when the 350z came out in 03. took me roughly 12 years to finally get one, bought mine the day I got out of the Navy last year.

/Angelo350Z/ 05-03-2016 03:24 PM

I was around 10 when the Z32 came out. My friends had Ferrari posters on their walls, I had the "We're Not Worthy" 300ZX Turbo magazine ad. When the 350Z came out, it was love all over again. Man, I wish I could find a copy of that Z32 ad.

poniwasx 05-04-2016 10:07 AM

20 here! Its always nice to hear you vets chime in on your experiences!

BobbyLight 05-04-2016 03:18 PM

21 here. I bought a 03 350z that my parents helped me with when I was diagnosed with stage 4 lymphoma at 17. I beat that and now have a 370! And bills, unfortunately.

My brother in law just passed from that. I understand your struggle and triumph. You deserve every ounce of enjoyment from that Z and the rest of your life.
