I wonder if the noise issue would not exist had Nissan did not put a priority on weight reduction. What I mean is that if they installed more sound reducing materials like foam this would not exist, correct?

It also happens in Infiniti vehicles which do have sound proofing.

No that's not correct. If the source of the problem didn't exist in the first place, it wouldn't matter if there was enough sound deadening or not. The noise would still exist even if u just blocked it out.

Sorry. I was not clear

what I meant to say is that the sound would still exist but not audible enough to be annoying.

I've listened to that noise several times and it almost sounds like I have heard it before.A very famuliar sound to me?
So the other night it was unusually warm and I was cleaning the car. When I was finished I was having a beer and smoking one of my buds from my new crop and it suddenly came to me!
The sound you are hearing is an old Led Zeppelin tune.It is very hard to hear it with the human ear but after the bud I smoked it was very clear to me that is what it is!I actually like it guys!
I'am not taking mine in if there is a recall!

Atleast from what I'm reading and seeing with my Z is that it's replicable. Rev the car over 1K RPM's and you'll ear the frequency noise from the glovebox area.

I've owned what seems like a jillion vehicles over my lifetime. Without exception any problem significant or initially unsolveable enough to contact the mfg resulted in the same lie that I was the only one who had experienced the problem and or made a complaint. How in the world can this be a good business strategy. I assume however since this response is ubiquitous it must work for the bottom line... SAD!

The noise seems to come and go in my G37....either very loud, or not there at all. I'm trying to sort out what might be triggering it as an interim fix until Infiniti/Nissan sorts it out.

I took the 370Z today to the Service Manager over at Curry Nissan (NY). He heard the noise and was trying to figure out how to handle this. He didn't want to begin cutting up the car. He said he'll bring this up to his Region Rep next week. But he did ear it! They weren't sure what devices are near the passenger side to cause that noise, other then the ECU which he didn't think would make a noise like that.

So I just hope Nissan is actually working on this issue, because I think I'm loosing my hearing lol

That's good news that they are trying to sort it out. My service manager said to bring it in when it acts up again and they'll try to isolate the problem. So far, the in the two times I've taken it in, the noise hasn't been acting up those days.

Silver37, did you take the Service Manager out for a drive? I took mine out on the highway and you can def hear it. Then when I took him back to the shop we were in the parking lot trying to isolate where the sound is coming from. Whenever I rev'd the car you heard it and as soon as i let go of the gas the sound stopped.
