Ah man, the dreaded SES

Got it tonight after driving a bit on the highway, 6400 miles and on it comes, I do have the Berk HFC's, I wonder if they caused it, what do yall think? Is there anything yall can think of that might trigger it?

Go to Pep Boys or Advanced Auto Parts and have them read the code.

Could be the cats, could be the gas cap is loose... could be anything at this point.

I get it all the time with my test pipes. Just get an OBD2 reader, erase them problem solved.

What OBD-2 reader did you buy?

No need to buy, just go to an Autozone or Pepboys and they will loan you an OBD2 reader free of charge. They will even help you hook it up. Just need a license.

i have an actron one i got for like $60. if you get the one with the larger screen it will tell u wat the code means. otherwise you read through a little booklet the package comes with to find your code's meaning.

it's must-have if you have a euro-car (owned a MINI before) cause they throw codes let and right often...

just search OBD2 scanner at amazon.

im gonna go today and get it checked, normally I wouldnt care, but when texas does inspections, SES equals automatic fail. I dont know if yall remember, but when I posted about my HFC install, I didnt have the collector gaskets with them, so I used a liquid rubber gasket sealer instead, do you think an air leak could be the culprit?

And don't forget, after you clear codes it can take anywhere from 50 to 200 miles to set readiness codes again (necessary to pass most emissions checks)

Ok gentlemen, here goes, P0420 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 1, im thinking 02 bung could use some steel wool in it, or there is a leak where the collector gasket should be. Ideas?

Well personally, it occurs every several thousand miles for me.

How do you fix the issue? you just clear the code and it goes away for another few thousand miles?
