EPA Ban Mods - Not sure if this is a big deal or not
Hello,
I just signed the petition, "President of the United States: Prevent the EPA from Banning Vehicle Modification!." I think this is important. Will you sign it too? Here's the link: https://www.change.org/p/president-o...e-modification |

This proposed ban is very real.
However, rather than signing a non-descript petition, you'd be better served e-mailing your congressperson or senator protesting the EPA proposal. |
time to start making tree-huggers disappear

No, the EPA Didn't Just Outlaw Your Race Car |
Government is trying to not let us mod our cars
Found this interesting, the government is trying to prohibit us from altering our vehicles..

Yeah I know emission laws. Which deals with intake and exhaust mostly. But literally by regulating emissions they regulate everything because everything in the car revolves precisely around that. And I get your point too, I know we're not perfect and that we're all corrupt to some degree. I'm not arrogant, but I am passionate and I push it far because usually people will begin to forget or ignore what's going on. Sometimes you have to push a little more or expand something just so people can actually pay attention to an issue that may not be major at the present moment but will become big in due time. Idk that's my feelings haha. Either way, power to the people and freedom gents :3 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
All performance part are now illegal
Ok so here is the skinny i'm putting this in the engine and drivetrain because it means the end of all performance modifications period. The regulation hiddin by the epa in a regulation about diesel truck emissions basically says that it is now illegal to convert anything that was certified as a road vehicle by the epa into an offroad racecar specifically targetting modifications to the entire engine or exhaust and related emissions systems. What you are not being told is that they plan to punish the manufacturers with up to a $37k dollar fine per part produced for any vehicle that at one point had an epa certification. Who do you think is going to make you a cat back and eat a $37k fine?
Well anyways here is the petition to the president to to tell the epa to to take a flying leap sign it if you want us all to be able to get parts in the future the more signatures it gets the more likely we will be able to actually get something done about it instead of just getting a bs response from his secretary https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/pet...les-racecars-0 |
Already signed it

Yeah my hope is that some of the over 133k members on here havent yet. Oh and spread the word to any other forum like things you may be on.
|
If this bill passes they're essentially throwing out billions of dollars in tax revenues for some measly fines. I honestly I don't see that happening but I did my part.

clean air act
“The EPA indicated that the regulation would prohibit conversion of vehicles into racecars and make the sale of certain emissions-related parts for use on converted vehicles illegal.” The group continued, “SEMA will continue to oppose the regulation through the administrative process and will seek congressional support and judicial intervention as necessary.”
So I'm guessing this is it for any kind of catalytic converter mods... test pipes, HFC, etc. Can anyone clarify this? |
welcome to earlier in the week. check the offtopic section.
|
Screw them, I will modify my 1975 280zt.
|
Guys, this is serious stuff. In the Diesel world the EPA has fined many aftermarket companies for mods for 2007 and up diesel trucks( DPF removal's etc.) They are not going after the public, but the manufacturers of said mods. How can you mod anything with nothing to buy.
|
the EPA can blow me.
I will not run cats. ever. they have made leaps and bounds in the cleaning up the emissions of vehicles over the last 10 years. if the EPA wants to clean it up tell them to make the fastest model tesla 50k instead of 130k with options then we could talk. I've driven one and they are kinda badass lol |

Ah see, I've learned a little more this time. So it seems that the new law is going to screw us all because the law is gonna be for manufacturers to follow. So that means the parts won't be getting made for us to illegally buy and install anyways. So no more mods due to lack of parts at least anything within emissions, which is virtually all the juicy and powerful parts... I knew it went a little beyond the public.
