Default Return to stock or sell as is?

I am trying to decide whether or not I should return my car to stock or leave it as is to sell it...

The Basics: 2010 M6 Touring with Sport, Navigation, Bose and all options <53k miles (will stay there for the winter).

I think either way I should remove all the plastidip on the car (wheels, door handles)

Mods:
AEM intakes
Z1 Performance PVC and Crank Pressure Hoses
ZSpeed powdercoated Under tray/air dam
20/25mm wheel spacers
AAM short tail exhaust

It also has drilled/slotted rotors I could put the stock rotors back on, not sure that would make any difference. Same with the RedTop Optima battery, I could replace that with a stock battery, not sure that would have any affect on the sale either way really.

It would take me a full day of working on the car to do this and I could only get like $500-$600 out of selling the parts.

My big question is if you all think the car is worth more with or without the few mods it has. I know this is pretty debatable as some people see a completely stock vehicle as more desirable and others would be happy to save on having to buy those mods. Obviously, there is no set answer, just looking for some insight.

Expert Opinions!!! Go!!

Put the mufflers back on a call it a day. Are you selling private or to a dealer?

When I see a modded car for sale I tend to shy away from it as I assume the owner is an enthusiast who may have beaten on the car.

Based on the mods listed I'd swap the intakes and the exhaust back to stock. Everything else leave on it.

When I traded in my Z I made the 1250 dollar investment to put nearly all the stock parts back on and netted out pretty well in the end.

Kicker is that the dealer saw the car before and after all the mods were off and gave me the same trade value.

I am not planning on trading it or selling to a dealer. Will most likely stick with private party.

I agree with you there. Do you think I should go 100% back to stock, like rotors and everything?

Yeah, in a dealers position these mods add zero value to the vehicle.

Thanks for the input so far!

carmax, in the past for me at least, gave me the full 'if stock' price when i gave them the stock parts loose in the trunk.

so if it's too much of a hassle just sell it partially stock and give them the stock parts i guess.

If you selling private ....it will depend on if the buyer is planning on modding the car ...if they are then you can squeak more from them or use it as a selling pitch ..but if you are selling to some one not interested in modding they might look at mods as a negative ...IMHO .....To remove after market parts before selling only apply to trading to a dealer or unless you will have use of the parts on your next car. Most private buyers looking for a Z car are looking for that car for a reason.

People's mods are personal choice, especially when it comes to exterior appearance. Anytime I have looked for purchasing something, and the seller lists all the mods and money they spent, I walk away from as they seem intent on asking for more money over stock (not saying you are doing that, just giving an example).

IMO take it back to as stock as possible and sell the aftermarket or just be willing to sell it as is at the stock selling price. Selling it stock opens your market to a wider audience.

In my experience if you trade it in on something like a factory ordered sti, " i did this " the dealer will give you what you ask for it within reason because they wanna move new cars. Or private party it with mods for a price you like

Yeah, I think you are correct on it being stock opens the market. I don't think the mods will add much value. Just trying to get the best range of people interested in purchasing.

Return to stock. Whoever will buy your car wont even care about the parts. You can sell the parts and make some money.

Agree. Return to stock and sell the parts separately. You'll be money ahead. You'll get back some ROI plus give the potential buyer the idea that it's probably been pampered and driven moderately (whether that's true or not, heh heh)
