if you want to enjoy the road and actually push on it best to go early. however with the size of the event now even the mornings get some back ups here and there but less or no cops.

i'll be there earlier so I was planning on doing some runs and spirited fun mon-wed early mornings. well maybe just take it easy Monday to explore.

any other roads other than the dragon worth mentioning to drive/explore?

theres a bunch.

hell bender on the way to the dragon from Fontana is good. it's less technical and you can get higher speeds. more sweepers than super tight corners. i'll go into more detail in the OG thread if needed lol

also the poker run is always a great set of roads that include the dragon. poker run is usually around a 150 miles loop through NC and TN.

Spooler 04-28-2016 02:10 PM

I can't wait, I need to get the F" out of here. Calgon, take me away. (Only the older folks may understand)

Spstone 04-28-2016 02:37 PM

I didn't realize the poker run was going to be so extensive. That's actually pretty epic.

You need to come and thaw....LOL I would be stir crazy up in Canada with the cold winters. I can't stand being cooped up inside for long.

Spstone 04-28-2016 05:45 PM

I was looking at the registration page there is on guy registered coming all the way from Seattle Washington. That's some dedication.

Z1NONLY 04-30-2016 07:23 PM

Did Oil, transmission, diff, front rotors, new brake pads at all corners, and flushed the brake system.

Because ZdayZ.

Tigger 05-01-2016 09:29 AM

Don't forget the posted speed limit signs now including the lowered limits in certain areas. I'm sure there will be a speed trap here or there.

I know I won't be breaking any speed limits. I'll just meander over to the side to let people pass. No biggie. I can't run that car out on a public road. All that **** stays on the track.

Got an appointment for mine next Saturday for oil, CSC, and brake fluid to be flushed and replaced with Mortul. Tech asked how many miles where currently on the car because their last record showed 1,100. When I answered 1,800 he asked why all the fluids where being changed he loved the simple answer of ZdayZ.

mishuko 05-01-2016 01:30 PM

Don't tell DE that your from Canada without bringing old dutch Ketchup chips ahahha

Spooler 05-06-2016 11:31 AM

11 days to go before the fun starts for me.

Spstone 05-06-2016 01:02 PM

I can't wait already have a week of after works cleaning planned out. The only place near me that any one would recommend for detailing starts at $300.00 so I'm going to have to put the elbow grease in myself.

I'm going to do a wash/vacuum/clean the mats this weekend. next Friday a wash/wax will be done.

might be pointless as I think my front bumper will turn into bug splat nation. :bowrofl:

Z1NONLY 05-06-2016 04:25 PM

I always try to start a road trip with a freshly-cleaned car. -Makes no sense, but I can't help myself. lol

Spstone 05-06-2016 06:37 PM

I figure the better prepped I get it the easier it will be to get it ready for the show. Just not willing to drop the $300+ prior to a 350 mile run to the mountains, plus the mileage I'll rack up when I'm there.

I went on the early morning runs everyday last year and the spacing was fine. It works out well because everyone lines up in order of speed (aka driving skill) for the most part so you don't have slow drivers holding others up. When in doubt, start towards the back and work your way up.

If you hang around with the MAZOC group, you'll get to explore a good number of those roads.

I'm well aware of the morning runs. However at 7am I'm still well above the legal limit to be driving let alone the dragon.

Now I have said this year I will be partaking in one morning session. that's also dependent on my livers cooperation.

Definitely worth it IMO. If you can't drive you can always come for a ride, but you'll still have to get your azz up in time. I can show you what a really nice exhaust sounds like, especially when you're not limited by 6 cylinders ;) :bowrofl:

mults 05-11-2016 03:42 PM

I am so bummed this year because we had to back-out  :crying:. Already had the room reserved at the Lodge and really love this event. Have to start planning for next year.

This is by far, the best Z event of the year

• Starts out like::driving:
• Then :eekdance: :excited:
• When finished: :woot: :happydance:

Hope you guys have a great time and STAY SAFE.

Halfkiddio 05-11-2016 03:52 PM

Can I make everyone jealous and say that I live 45 minutes from the dragon? Because I totally do lol.

On another note, I am really excited for this years ZdayZ, as I have a place to crash on friday night just up the road from Fontana. Last year was my first event, but I didn't get to be there for any of the fun stuff. This year will be different in that aspect, and next year I will be there most of the week, if not all the week.

Spstone 05-14-2016 07:44 PM

Got all the camping gear laid out today. Now to try to stuff it all in the Z. Less than a week I feel like a kid waiting on Christmas

Rusty 05-14-2016 10:21 PM

The Nismo is ready. It's all nice and clean, inside and out. Oil changed, tires rotated, everything is checked. Now for the bad news. I got a head cold! Had it for about a week now. Feel really miserable. I'm hoping the wife doesn't get it.

Hope you feel better looking forward to meeting you and seeing the car.

I'm gonna have to tackle to detail after work this week

Rusty 05-17-2016 08:33 PM

I'm still feelin' crappy, now my wife. :icon14: Tried to cut off my trigger finger with a razor knife yesterday. Cut it to the bone! Bright side. The Nismo is packed and waiting to go. Leaving the house at 7am. :driving:

mishuko 05-18-2016 12:13 AM

Look for the Ontario plates or the dirtiest black zed. Asian kid. Me.

Spooler 05-21-2016 10:36 PM

I had a big time. I came home early today, my neck was killing me and I have to go to work Monday. Note to self, take the following Monday off.

Rusty 05-23-2016 12:28 PM

Got home LATE last night. Feelin' kind of :icon14:. My head is still stuffy. :shakes head: Have no feeling in my finger from the 2nd knuckle out. I did a number on it.

Going to ZDayZ. Drove the the rain for 9 hrs on Wednesday. So much for a clean Z. Had a great time. Turned the wife green on the Dragon. :driving: Her Dramamine didn't kick in on time. :icon17: Did the poker run. Think we had over 50 cars for that. Caught up with old friends and made new.

Got to meet Spooler. He's a lot taller then what I thought he would be. LMAO Inside joke. :icon17:

Forgot to take 2 quarts of moonshine with me. :shakes head: I had promised to give Bob one of them. They are still sitting where I left them. On my work bench waiting to be loaded into the Z. :shakes head:

Drove part of the Blue Ridge Parkway home. That was a nice drive. :tup:Would love to do that in the fall when the leaves are changing colors.

Will post up pictures later.

Sounds like a great time!

Put the fall BRP trip on your to-do list.

We drove from the northern end of Skyline Drive to almost the southern end of the BRP (got off at Waynesville NC) last October. Beautiful drive. We were expecting a lot of traffic, but we drove it mid-week and the only traffic we ran into was 10 miles either side of Roanoke and Asheville.

I will post when home when I have my pc....

So story time.

I met with MAZOC and did a lot with exsanity... our waifu didn't have as much fun as we did lol.

Met tigger early and well... I saw a porche go on 3 wheels with the 4th 6inchdx off the ground. Was a sight to see. We hung out drove drank... spooned and made him cringe when I whipped my 2.5 inchew of glory, the straight razor

When I met EW I was shocked to see who he was and also happy he was such a cool cat. That story is somewhere else. I think it was my best laugh with him.

When I was looking for hOTRODZ I was driving around fontana at 8pm asking people do you know where FI or have a hotrodz????

I got a 'kid stop harassing FI for a tshirt' or is 'he your lover ?'

Little did they know I had bigger things. Swapped some cdn beer for some pads. Lol well I haven't asked but I hope he enjoyed them. When he was washing his car because it was 'dirty' I was like uhhh you think yours is dirty.... Drove by and showed him dirty.

Ex sanity Ew and I went to cruise was fun as hell. EX and I had a few adventures. Super sweet .... lol we kinda lost Ew a few times lol

Oh on my way down I met pansy and we grabbed lunch during my 600 drive to va. We got chipotle. On the way out he's lIke ohhhhh here my exhaust. So he starts his car which sounds lIke a dying goat. Then revs it hard. This lad did a 180 jump. I swear she shat herself.... between him and my Gf laughing I felt bad for her.

Pics to follow Wednesday or Thursday

Rusty 05-24-2016 09:13 AM

Turning the wife green. :icon17: Her Dramamine didn't kick in, in time. Youtube cut me off at 15 minutes. So you don't hear some of my wife's comments.
