370z Illuminated Kick Plates

Okay I may be the only person who likes them, but they didn't come with my car. Do you think it would be hard to install? I think I want them.

Those look pretty good, I like em!

Usually all the wiring is there even if the optional part isn't (In this case the kick plates) so they shouldn't be too difficult to install.

TacoZ 01-03-2009 08:25 PM

I saw them in person I really like them. I don't care what people think, I love them. Most of the cars that I saw had them already installed and cost $200 on top of MSRP.

dad 01-03-2009 08:31 PM

Correct me if I'm wrong:

Doesn't the car come with a CD or DVD, on the engine ,trannie, electrical ,etc...

You are not the only one. I went back to the dealership today and saw it, I want them :)

Educ8r 01-03-2009 09:13 PM

You are correct.

I'm sorta hoping it doesn't come pre-installed when I get mine, so I can look forward to a group like EVO-R to do something similar or better. White LED illumination is something I'd like. Otherwise, I'd pull it apart and change out the LED. :-D

drisko 01-03-2009 09:38 PM

For $200 I think it's a good deal and I definitely plan on getting them.

Service manual contains "detailed instructions" on transmission, engine, tire pressure sensor, electrical, and should show info., on the kick plate.

One problem: I forgot, I think you have to buy the CD/DVD,... sorry.
I think it cost $150.00 or 200.00, not sure!
It's the "Chilton manual" for Z's!

bossman 01-04-2009 01:04 AM

told you guys the Z carried a bit of class ;)

o0javi0o 01-04-2009 01:25 AM

I want it.... I WANT IT!!!

here is an picture that I took when I did a Test Drive of the 370z of the kick plates.
I hope this would give you guys a better perspective of how they look. :)

It's not listed here yet, contact your dealer if you want one, they're expensive.

LiquidZ 01-05-2009 06:04 AM

I like those kick-plates.

TheManTheMyth 01-05-2009 10:58 AM

Definitely getting the kick plates!

Pushing_Tin 01-05-2009 01:36 PM

My car came with them!

RCZ 01-05-2009 08:05 PM

Saw them, wouldn't mind if they were on the car I get, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get them.

WooZ 01-08-2009 01:02 AM

Looks sweet. Adds a touch of class I'd say.

WShade 01-08-2009 01:52 PM

Kick plates are a very easy install and I bet the wiring harness is already there. Pull your existing ones off and verify.

Educ8r 01-08-2009 04:05 PM

Nissan said they would install them for $275:rolleyes:

LOL this reminds me of the G35 heated seats fiasco when it first came out. Rumors swirled that all the wiring and such for the heated seats were in all the leather seat models and all you needed was to install the switches and connect it up. It turned out to be false and I'm not saying that's the same thing here with the kick plates, but this reminded me of the million post thread on that topic.

I bet anything the wires are not there?
When I bought my Mazda6 I did not order it with illuminated door sills.
I ordered them later & had dealer install them. Nope no wires & cost much more later!
I was sure this time when I ordered my Z that I'm getting factory sills installed.

wj4 01-09-2009 12:09 AM

I'd love to see a picture of the illuminated Z in a dark surrounding.

$275 including parts?

FairladyZ 01-09-2009 10:30 PM

dude the stock kick plates or whatevers loook like crap. The plastic makes the car look cheaper, these illuminated ones look tight.

Agreed. I can't believe they went with the "plastic" :shakes head: It looks very cheap. I think at least could have put a silver emblem like the 350Z. The illuminated ones arent bad.

I think they look good, but again I think it depends on the color of the car. Just not sure how an amber light will play out on a silver car, ya know?

DIGItonium 01-10-2009 01:06 AM

I dunno... when pre-ordering the 350Z, there was the option of aluminum kick plates. We didn't really have a picture of the production product, so we went by the concept. IIRC, it was all aluminum in its glory. Well, we later ended up with flat aluminum with double stick adhesive to plastic.

The Z I looked at today didn't have the illuminated kick plates, so the regular one looked fine to me. It scuffs pretty easily... I had an OCD attack and started wiping the muddy scuff marks off the kick plate, and the sales guy was :wtf:

Anyhow, it appears the Z I may end up ordering will come with these fancy kick plates and other accessories... knowing me, I already plan to change the illumination to white.

Which package did you get? Where you able to negotiate for the prices or did the dealer didn't budge? I'm really really looking into getting a 370.

tvfreakazoid 01-10-2009 03:16 PM

Is there a way to change the color of the kick plates? I would prefer a blue colored one over the orange.:inoutroflpuke:

You mean the bulb?

Im pretty sure you can change the color of the LED bulb. I think it's orange to match the dash/speedometer color. This will def be a personal DIY mod. Hyper white wouldn't look too bad IMO.

Yea i didn't think about that. I'm not a fan of the orange. I wonder if it's easy to change led bulb.

TomatoEvo 01-11-2009 01:20 AM

Even though I'd strip the car eventually, I wouldn't mind getting these for $150. It might even help your idiot passanger realize s/he shouldn't bump his shoes while getting in the car.

3SeventyZ 01-11-2009 07:30 AM

Didn't get the kickplates right off but I may convert later on down the road.

Educ8r 01-11-2009 09:29 AM

NO, the kick plates are $200 +$275 to install!

Rip off. Tell them $210 out the door or nothing at all! :D

Buy them yourself. Install is going to be easy as hell.
