Almost died in the Z
On interstate 75 heading home from work when a semi decide to almost run me over. He probably didn't realized the split in the road merged at this point or was not looking for vehicles under 40 tons.
If I had not of hard braked his trailer would of likely ran over the Z given how low it is. |
Glad to see you reacted quickly to avoid a collision.
What an a$$hole!!! :shakes head: |
Glad you're OK. Usually, tractor trailer drivers are some of the best on the road.
|
|
Day-uhm!
Good reaction on your part. :tiphat: |
good job on the braking. And so, another Z is saved to drive another day.

Whew!
What a mess of a road you have to drive on. |

Yikes! That was close...
|
That was a close one! Glad you made it out of that one.
You should share this in the dash cam thread as well! |
damn! Good reflexes and good sport brakes.
|
Phone not cooperating. Making a note to look when I get home.
|
Great reaction on your part, you definatly saved your Z from being totaled. I am a truck driver and like Memphis370 said the majority are good drivers, but unfortunately the industry is being flooded with individuals that have no business being behind the wheel of a 18 wheeler.
Here is small list on companies all you guys need to watch out for Prime (almost hit you shenlong) JBhunt US xpress Swift CRST Werner |
Jesus dude........... That truck needs to :gtfo2:
Nice reaction in tight quarters sir!:tiphat: |
Wow, that was close.
Still can't get that gay music out of my head. For the PC crowd, gay also means jovia, happy, good-spirited and excited. ;) |

Sh*t, just last weekend I had 4 major break checks and two "thank god no one is that lane" when I cranked the wheel right to avoid those inbred, lifted pickups deciding it wasn't where they wanted to turn. Most harrowing 10 mile trip to beach ever. A-holes in trucks.
|
Outstanding reaction time  and glad it worked out for you :iagree:

I'm home. I think my butt sucked up part of my office chair.
|
You were in his blind spot. Be careful of those around big trucks. Trucker should have waited to be sure it was clear instead of merging so quickly. Good save though.
|
I was expecting worse. That **** happens to me at least twice every week. You learn to anticipate it. It's even worse on a motorcycle.
|
Glad you are OK!

Fortunately, the truck-driver realized what was happening more quickly than I did and gave me some breathing room. The lug nuts on his front wheel absolutely demolished our rear door. The cop who investigated looked at our car, then at the truck, and then asked the truck-driver, "And all you got was your lugs polished?" Glad you were alert enough to avoid a bad outcome! |
Glad you're okay!
|
What the heck were you listening to?

Agree With "Spooler"
At that angle, it is really hard to see what's in the left lane. But big trucks have multiple mirrors. He missed seeing you. In our Zs , with the small mirror, I learned early, you have to get parallel with the other lane before you can count on your mirror.
Thanks for the post. It will help us all be even more careful. It is best to make a serious effort to stay away from big trucks when you can. Cheers, |
good job driving, always looking ahead

First thing came to mind when I saw PC Principal was, "that Jim McMahon." |
Truck shouldn't have changed lanes over a solid line -- but you made a basic z-driving defensive driving error as well; ALWAYS count on the worst happening -- and position oneself away from danger. You were running more or less parallel to this guy for quite a while, and you should have sped up or slowed down in a way that that truck would have merged out of the split lanes without you right next to him. Glad you avoided a mishap, nice job hard on the brakes -- but was unnecessary in the bigger picture "if I'd only..." scenario.
|
This is literally every day with one motorist or another on 635. Grats on the quickness that was almost your life for sure.
|
Wow too close for comfort, good job hitting those brakes and glad to hear you're ok!
|
I would have pulled a Fast&Furious and gone underneath the truck bed
|
Well, in my case, I was in the left turn lane waiting for the green arrow and a cement truck behind me just started to perform a monster truck routine onto my car. The sound of the revving engine, metals bending, etc shocked the hell out of me. Of course, I couldn't get out.
I finally had to press hard on my horn and he stopped. When I finally got out and he got out, he said, "sorry, I was too high and you were too low in front of my bumper.. I didn't see you!" Grrr! I had many nights of nightmares. |

Same thing, only I wasn't so lucky. On way to work in heavy traffic here in Jersey on Route 78W between Exits 50A and B. Construction truck tail-ended my '07 350Z and totaled it.
He,was going too fast for the traffic and wasn't maintaining the proper following distance. Looking to replace the car with a 370Z now... https://instagram.com/p/72gDerMtk1/ https://instagram.com/p/72fjjOstj4/ Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S4 using Tapatalk |
