That truck driver should have made sure it was clear before he decided to merge. He also shouldn't have merged over a solid line. Had the OP been passing on the right, the blind spot excuse could have worked, but not on the drivers side. That was negligent driving. Good spider-sense OP. If you always anticipate the worst then you will have a better chance of avoiding accidents.

What kind of camera are you using as a dash cam? That's a good idea.

Well done on paying attention :tiphat:

I have very recently encountered an a$$hole not paying attention. Thankfully, I did not have a Jersey Barrier on my left, so a little off road action was necessary to avoid a collision. Just another reminder that everyone else on the road is an idiot :ugh:

Dashcam

Yup...maybe it's time for a dashcam. I see stupid s*** every day.
What's everybody using?

Same thing, only I wasn't so lucky. On way to work in heavy traffic here in Jersey on Route 78W between Exits 50A and B. Construction truck tail-ended my '07 350Z and totaled it.

He,was going too fast for the traffic and wasn't maintaining the proper following distance.

Looking to replace the car with a 370Z now...

That is a nasty collision :-(
Glad you're ok and good luck in replacing the car.

I have the same one. It's the best "cheap" dash cam around!

I have instructed my wife to purchase me the G1W-H (she has the Amazon Prime account). Thank you for the info :tiphat:

For <$60, I think everyone on this forum should have one :twocents:

I would go with the capacitor version or G1W-C if you live in a hot area. The battery versions are known to overheat. I'm from Ohio and I still went with the G1W-C because I have my dash cam hardwired and running even when parked. I'm using the Lukas LK-290 Battery Discharge Prevention so if the battery drops below the specified Voltage it will stop the camera.

Yeah, I definitely want the capacitor version. Thanks for the heads up :tiphat:

I went ahead and ordered directly from SpyTec per the article you linked to ensure I didn't get a knock-off one from some random company on Amazon :twocents:

$62 shipped
