.........that's your argument? im lost at this point.

I don't think you full grasp the concept and reason of the 7AT transmission paired with paddles and slap stick on the console.

I want to shift and control my gear selection but I rather do it through a better, faster, better tech option.

I make every single shift in my AT up and down (aside from 2-1 that's terrible for it) and I DD the car.

I'm not talking to you at this point.

My simple legitimate question about lack of sport mode turned into an e penis "I shift myself because D is dumb" measurement contest.

I got my answer. Carry on bsing about my driving skills and my noobness

Everybody has a different style of driving. Some prefer a manual, some an auto, some like to shift an auto manually.

When I had my 7AT Z it spent most of it time in auto. But it was fun to drop into manual mode and swat the stick (or flick the paddles). Could I shift better than the TCM? Hell no! But I didn't care - I was having fun.

If you don't like the 7AT, maybe a Z is not the car for you.

I haven't said you couldn't drive. but then again never seen it so who knows.

and it is not a penis competition about shifting or not shifting.

it's simply saying the ECUTCM is good but not the best. for best results do it yourself. I don't get what's hard to grasp from that statement.

if you're not happy with how the car reacts in auto then drop it into manual and have at it. if not get a different vehicle.

I give advice on what the car can do and is possible in a thread titled "Dumb question...." sums up the controversy now I guess.

OP,

Stop looking for a bull$hit S mode that isn't going to do anything noticeably different. The Z D mode > any sedan/coupe (NON-sports car) S mode. Go drive a TDI or G37 if you want S mode. It's just marketing bs. Of course there are differences, but don't think a G37 in S mode is going to shift better or faster than the Z in D mode.

The Z D mode learns how you are driving and adjusts to compensate. If you want it to shift harder, then you have to drive it harder. I believe there are some tuning options for the 7AT as well.

The 7AT on the 370Z is a pretty phenomenal transmission, especially considering it's age (FP, don't you dare quote this in the Auto vs Manual thread ). And I drive the 6MT. I agree with SouthArk in that if you don't like it, you should probably look at a different vehicle :ugh:

Pretty much every AT in existence sucks at shifting around town unless your throttle inputs are perfectly in tune with the driving conditions (because throttle input controls the AT shifting). And no one's throttle inputs ever are.

Shifting input is much easier to control, hence your recommendation :driving:

OP wants the S and doesn't want the D (during spirited driving) read the thread. :happydance:

Then put your toenails in the radiator. The car will go into "S mode" automagically.

Toenails in the radiator = WOT. Push the gas pedal so hard that your foot goes through the floorboard and into the radiator.

Automagically = "Automatically, but in a way that, for some reason (typically because it is too complicated, or too ugly, or perhaps even too trivial), the speaker doesn't feel like explaining to you." - dictionary.com

here, let's just put this in a very simple way so we can stop this.

G needs DS mode because it's not a Z

Z does NOT need DS mode because its not a G

//end thread

Do elaborate where it turned into this. Clearly this e-thugging is directed towards me as you've quoted my posts. So clarify please.
