I have no issues with the D programming in the Z however going through canyons etc I'd prefer a sport mode that keeps the revs high 4000+ without throwing the car back into 7th after 2 seconds of not hitting the gas.

:ughdance:

no the GTR does not have a sport mode. it had A and M. that's it. well unless you count the suspension, tranny, and ecu settings but that's basically hard harder and oh shiiiiiiiiit.

D mode in the Z is useless if you want it to react the way you have described. also the ECU learns from your driving so if you typically drive is slow and soft it's not gonna instantly go hard when you ask it to.

drive in D normally and when you hit a canyon road throw that bitch into manual and go to work.

worst case the car probably just needs a driver mod. :bowrofl: canyon roads in D mode. I've heard it all now.

I stated that D doesn't work in canyons hence the whole point of this thread, and me asking about an S mode.

And now we're arguing semantics, since the GTR has an R mode and not an S mode :nutswinger:

yes that was harder mode as I stated and off is oh shiiiiiiit.

moral of the story and answer to you is throw the Z in manual mode and beat the piss out of it. it works just fine.

Since I am a noob and all. I do have another question (as all of us noobs do)... Infiniti/Nissan don't have a service interval for the 7AT, and it is one of those "lifetime Fills" which usually means replace the transmission by 100k miles.

Is this transmission difficult to service? And what is the recommended "forum bro" service interval.

I tried a search several times and it wasn't very successful.

100k is bullshit. go every 30k that's even what a friend of mine who is the service manager at a Nissan garage said. even at 30k miles the fluid is just toast if you drive that car hard at all.

I just has mine done 2 weeks ago at 46k miles. took it to the Nissan garage which is rare for me but tranny fluid flush and change isn't really something to do at home unless you have a lift and the specialized tools to pup the fluid out then back in. almost like a full brake fluid flush/change. the money it costs to have Nissan do it is much less than the cost of tools to do it at home.

Oh so nissan offers a transmission fluid swap? I read a lot of threads that stated the dealers were clueless when someone requested those... and claimed it was a "lifetime fill".

Also how much do they want for this?

Didn't realize the Z 7AT didn't have a Ds mode like the G. I had a G37 rental and the only thing it seemed to do was was delay the shift points so the engine stayed in each gear longer/revved higher. Seemed useless to me. Just use the paddles

I called 3 dealerships and the first one said they've never worked on a 370 so I hung up, second never did a tranny fluid swap, and the 3rd I gave up and just called my guy at the Nissan garage that's a bit out of the way BUT I found out he's done it many times there so that was a homerun. didn't take long either. think it was just over an hour which was fine gave me and the fiancée time to go test the new murano for her.

think it was $170.

What else should it do? The shifts are already firm and farting unicorns out of the exhaust isn't an option.

Interesting so "nissan garage" wasn't an actual dealer?

Your experience mirrors what I have read so far... Dealers are not doing as part of even the premium (rape) maintenances.

i call dealerships garages sometimes. yes I had it done at the dealer.

just call ahead and make sure they have a. worked on a 370 and b. have done this exact work before. for me I would have called each dealership in going further distance wise until I found one who has.

I don't trust dealerships at all so this was hard for me lol

It's useless because it feels confused. You let off the gas and it hangs there, then decides 'Oh he's off the gas now, let's upshift'. Then you hit the gas and it has to think about it again. So basically it's D mode, with delayed shifts. Useless. What do you think a 'sport' mode would do?

Yes, farting unicorns out of the exhaust would be more useful.

You paid for the auto to shift gears faster than you can. Not the other way around. If you have to shift it constantly yourself why not get a manual?
