Gosh, I remember the first time I was shot out of a cannon.

Not sure why one would want to do this but:

Flames out the tailpipe are the result of having flammables (primarily unburnt fuel, elemental carbon, and carbon monoxide) in the exhaust gases. These will ignite when they hits the oxygen in the atmosphere - if they are hot enough. If the gasses have cooled below the auto-ignition point when they reach the exhaust exit, there will be no flames.

Cats turn the flammables into carbon dioxide, which doesn't burn.

So, if you want flames, ditch the cats and go with short pipes (less cooling). Detuning the engine to run rich will "help."

Keep in mind that if you are running rich and get air into the exhaust you have a severe fire hazard. Plus there's the risk of drawing carbon monoxide into the cabin. All-in-all not a great idea but it's your car/life.

Thanks for the information, but it's not about wanting to do this, it's asking if it will happen or not. I'm not trying to make the A/F ratio run 9's all day either. There are people with proper tunes that can shoot flames under WOT. It won't happen every time, just now and then

I keep trying to shoot flames, but the bullets go right through them. :(

In a 370Z? There are a few guys on this forum with vids of their 370Z flames. They are all forced induction, though. I challenge you to find a N/A 370Z spittin' flame yo.

there has been one but he had some guy do a very odd tune with a lot of high rpm fuel cut/dumps and ignition timing to get it to spark up the gases.

You said with a proper tune. I don't think that guy is running a proper tune.

Not to mention if your just looking to spit flames in the parking lot, that's stupid. I would not recommend high RPMs without the engine under load :twocents:

 Ok so you have to fuk up your tune and ignition timing and do 6K+ RPM fuel dumps. That doesn't count since he said "with proper tune"

And the YouTube of the 1200hp GT-R in Dubai doesn't count either. :bowrofl:

that's a whole different story lol

that much fuel pumping to achieve that HP flames are inevitable when he lets off the loud pedal lol
