Can you shoot flames?
So can anyone's car with test pipes shoot flames? Only reason am asking is because I am debating whether to get Fast Intentions Resonated test pipes or FI RHFC. If I can't shoot flames I am just going to get the RHFC. It will be paired with an invidia gemini catback.

It's official. These cars have gotten cheap enough for the lowest common denominator.

I can shoot flames if I stand near a candle after downing four Gordita Supremes at Taco Bell.

LOL funny comments but that actually was a serious question, want to know if all the fumes are going to worth it in the end.

Yes but only if you have blast pipes:tup: |

Ya I know I don't want 7 foot flames, just wanted to know if you get flames at all with test pipes.
|
No.
And WHY would you want that? It's a throwback to the Fast and Furious days. And it was unrealistic then. Just showed you had a shitty tuner. |
......you take a can throttle body cleaner and insert lubricated tube - spray till it rocks your boat. Then your squint and strain really hard over a bbq.......
Voila - flames. Then there was that time in band camp..... |
Mr. EastWest can shoot flames.

OP: if you want to shoot flames go get a horrible tune that's super rich and that should get you flames.
then probably beating up your engine a bit. hey worth it in the end though right? :tiphat: |

all the AUTO's shoot flames and sport package equipped Z's do also

Cars shoot flames because unburned fuel is igniting as it exits your extremely hot exhaust. I'm pretty sure a bad tune can make that happen.

heavy on the fuel and hot exhaust should light up. |
All I'm gonna say is "IBTL" :)

Gosh, I remember the first time I was shot out of a cannon.

Flames out the tailpipe are the result of having flammables (primarily unburnt fuel, elemental carbon, and carbon monoxide) in the exhaust gases. These will ignite when they hits the oxygen in the atmosphere - if they are hot enough. If the gasses have cooled below the auto-ignition point when they reach the exhaust exit, there will be no flames. Cats turn the flammables into carbon dioxide, which doesn't burn. So, if you want flames, ditch the cats and go with short pipes (less cooling). Detuning the engine to run rich will "help." Keep in mind that if you are running rich and get air into the exhaust you have a severe fire hazard. Plus there's the risk of drawing carbon monoxide into the cabin. All-in-all not a great idea but it's your car/life. |

Thanks for the information, but it's not about wanting to do this, it's asking if it will happen or not. I'm not trying to make the A/F ratio run 9's all day either. There are people with proper tunes that can shoot flames under WOT. It won't happen every time, just now and then |
I keep trying to shoot flames, but the bullets go right through them. :(

Not to mention if your just looking to spit flames in the parking lot, that's stupid. I would not recommend high RPMs without the engine under load :twocents: Quote:
