Thanks for the insight so far guys. So I guess my question would be, will this have any long-term effects on my clutch/transmission.

The only long-term effect of burning the clutch will be on your wallet, as you'll be replacing the clutch once a year.

But don't worry, you'll get better at adjusting your shifts to the point it won't happen very often.

That makes me fee a little better then. It's definitely not something that has happened often - maybe two or three times total for a few seconds. At least now I know exactly what was happening and what not to do now
