Gentlemen, I didnt start this thread to begin a flame war, It was an observation and I was curious to know if anyone had seen the same things.

All of this hypothetical crap is annoying. People are quick to dismiss the capabilities of Mustangs and Camaros around a road track... they're too heavy, they're old tech, they won't handle...
Yes, they are heavy. Yes, they are (or were) old tech. But have you ever seen one driven in anger? They may not have the technological advantages but they aren't to be taken lightly. And the drag racing stuff is BS, too. Driver competence is half the battle. There are plenty of guys here that couldn't even muster a 14 second pass at sea level in a 6MT if their lives depended on it. And somewhere, some kid in a Scion tC that saw a 370 pass at 14.7 is talking about how his bro with an I/E tC can keep up with any 370 because they barely break into the 14s yo! |
keep in mind gentlemen that this isnt a Camaro vs. Mustang vs. 370Z thread, it was made out of curiosity to see if people were seeing an insane amount of Camaros on the roads nowadays, much like the Mustang.

Also, mustangs are very capable track cars stock and have a nice upgrade from factory to push them even better. |
Camaro vs 370Z?
Come on guys...don't let your testerone get in the way. You're driving a "Z". The Camaro is pretty but like a mobile home - different paint scheme on the outside and a fancy interior - they are still just a Chevy. If they should challenge you just nod, look the other way and KNOW you're driving a Z. It's like a 4th Deg Black Belt facing a street punk. You can just look away knowing that "you're driving a 370Z". I'm a 3rd time Z owner and BTW I'm one of those Boomers living the memory but in a Z it's real. Not just looking over the long hood of a Chevy. I was going up the mountain recently and a Boxer almost ran off the road checking out my Platinum Graphite Z...it was a hoot.

I challenge someone to provide any evidence of a Z being faster than a Camaro SS on a road-course. I have not yet had both the Z and a Camaro SS on a track so I can not speak from personal experience, and neither can any of you. Show me some conclusive evidence of the Z out-performing cars on a track. Until then...the Motor Trend comparison stands, with the SS beating the NISMO around Laguna Seca by a second.
Oh yeah...this is just nonsensical magazine-racing. Let's just pretend the Z is faster because you say so. |

Outright performance has nothing to do with a car's classification as a "sports-car". The Camaro is not a sports-car. The Z is. |
Blah blah blah, the point of the thread was that the camaros are everywhere now. If you want to bench race between the two, there are at least 3 other threads on the topic.

As mentioned above the only true comparison between the two on a road course was with the Camaro beating the Nismo. Until someone else can give us some times on a road course between the two leave the track talk at that. Respect the car for what it is. Behind any fancy paint job or interior there is just a Nissan, Chevy or freakin car underneath it all. All that black belt and street punk talk is nonsense.. LOL get over yourself brah. |
