I frequent a Nissan dealer and they have had the same Z's on the lot for several months...and it's not because people are waiting in the weeds to buy the "next" Z.
I also have an Honda product in my household...a visit there and I see the same Accord coupes sitting there collecting dust..if you talk to some maufacture heads...they'd assume get rid of the coupe market.
If Toyota thought for a second they could sell 500,000 Supra's a year , don't you think they would have it in their line-up ? although 1 is rumored to be in the makes , will not be a full Toyota..I believe BMW has their hands on it...and it will be expensive as hell and they will make 20,000 ?? good luck getting one.
Coupe market has diminished over the years...that is why there is a handful of offerings these days...
Enjoy what you got ...I am !
Well said. The problem is not the technology, the issue is the market and whether it's worth Nissan's time and money. My guess is that Nissan makes very little money, if any, off the Z line. Under Renault's management, Nissan's bread and butter has become selling Altimas, Sentras and light trucks in Asian. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Nissan drops the Z line all together in lieu of an Infiniti sports car and the GTR.

What most fail to see is, our Z from a mechanical standpoint, is an infiniti, parts bin car. We are on the FM platform like most infiniti's. We carry the same engine and transmission as most mass produced infiniti's. We make the shell and outsource wheels. Even the Sport brakes are infiniti carry overs with custom covers.

So how much can it really cost to build the Z. Nothing is unique in terms of parts. It's just a shortened G , M, EX and FX chassis that in total, sells over WELL OVER100,000 units annually combined. Then cars like the altima and sentra make enough money to help fund the Z's chassis customizing, track testing R&D The Z is no marvel of unique technology,. So making a sports car that only sells 5,000 units a year shouldn't be that big of a deal. It's built from bred and butter infiniti parts minus SRM and Rays wheels

That said,Nissan is full of shyt with this situation.

I just turned 60 and I will never drive a grandpa car.
wow, props to you sir on being 60. that being said, i'm going through my mid-life crisis as we speak, as i just turned 30. (wtf, where did the time go!?!?!)

Yep, our engines aren't unique to an individual car per se, but rather same engine that's tuned differently for different cars.
