IMNSHO, it depends on what you use your car for. If it's a DD that rarely gets far from a tow truck, I'd wait until it fails. If you do

If it's a DD that rarely gets far from a tow truck, I'd wait until it fails. If you do a lot of driving out in the boonies, I'd do a proactive replacement.
