The pony cars have always been about hp/$; its only recently that they've begun thinking about sportiness much beyond that.
Except that people do make that comparison because that is what is available to compare on the streets. And the Camaro SS 1LE/Mustang GT Performance Pack are actually fairly good handlers. They are still bloated.

The Porsche Cayman has upped the anti in hp over the last several years. The new Cayman GT4 will be pushing 380 hp.

All that said, I don't care. I love the Z experience, I love the total cost of ownership, and I love the fact that I can easily do work on it.

me too, jp. i honestly dont like the look or sound of porches anyway. im more a ferrari kinda guy if going exotic.

im not sure where people get the idea that the Z is like a cayman, unless they've never actually driven one (like them dumbarse magazine spec-racers). almost nothing similar.

The Z when in it's design phase... Nissan uses a PORSCHE CAYMAN to use as a benchmark for it's on paper stats. And it tries as hard as possible to give a similar level of performance. Of course the last and current iteration is course and unrefined, compared to a Porsche... Nissan is a FR platform while the Caymn is MR, but year one both cars got around the track in about the same time. The Z offering a visceral pro-driver experience while, the cayman glided through the track with ease...

The Z is designed to give you the on paper PORSCHE performance in a package thats similar in layout, function and form. Still each car gives a unique driving experience...

There's no way for me to say Anyything like this about a "Camastanger" when compared to a Z. Hence the Z being somewhat of a Porsche competitor.
