Quick Poll: DRLs during the night, cool not cool

Quick Poll: DRLs during the night, cool not cool. Redoing my lights and trying to figure out if that is just obnoxious to have them running at night. Thanks!!

You could have someone else drive your car behind you (most newer cars have auto dim rearview). And drive past you at night. The obnoxious would be relative to what you consider obnoxious. I'm lowered on swifts so just about every car whose headlights sit at my eye level in oncoming traffic seem bright to me.

I have sti-r lenses and 2015 Nismo bumper with drl's and they are on at night. Remember drl's don't project even though the light might be bright.

Just have them on at night and see how many people flash you. I have yet to be flashed once tbh. If me and one other car is on the road nobody has turned on their highs because they think I have highs on.

it has to do with the lens too. DRL's are made to be seen during the day with wide angle on purpose. headlights are beamed away from oncoming traffic.

give it a shot and see. i think i wouldnt be annoyed by cars following me, but oncoming might be

lol I'm asking b/c I'm putting dual orb LEDs, and I have the option to program them to come one with the DRLs while parking lights/headlights is on (that means on Auto they won't work during daytime nor the DRLs), or to just come on in Auto during the daytime with the DRLs, I think I might just do option 2 with the auto.

If I had a newer model Z with the DRL's the first thing I would do is wire a switch to the console to turn them on and off manually. And the only time I would turn them on is under conditions of poor visibility like rain or fog, irrespective of day or night. I find them in general to be an annoying styling affectation and unnecessary to be on all the time, regardless of what the so called experts say about why we need them. In fact I hope they go away as a fashion statement, like the ugly plastic rear valances and cowcatcher front grills and oversized scoops that seem to be so prevalent among today's designers who must have played with Transformers too much when growing up.

This is exactly what I've done. And I keep them off unless my silver car is at risk in early morning light, or dusk, or in poor visibility conditions.

I'm certain to be an odd owner, but I often work midnight+ hours and don't need to be blasting super-white in a parking lot while keeping the car running for a couple of hours. (Job related. I hear the snickers LOL) Once you start the car and release the handbrake the DRL's stay lite if your headlights are not active. Even if you have been driving for some time and park in a quiet area and shut your lights off. The DRL's will still be on. This 'cut-off' wired at the control module is the solution!

I have also installed a JDM rear fog light to be used under the same conditions.

yep, im not really into driving lights or DRL's so i would keep them off until when it would be functionally beneficial... like through a short tunnel or through the woods during the day or something. driving in rain, u'd probably want to turn ur headlights on anyway to light up the tails too.

My wifes honda accord is even worse because the instrument lights are ALWAYS on. If you'e not paying attention it's pretty easy to take off at night with your head lights off.

On a side note, I love the DR lights on the Z!

I do imagine the DRL's make some not notice. Or maybe everyone was rolling their eyes at me.

the new cadillac CTS/ATS has veritcal strip DRL's and they are annoying at night. kinda looks cool at times but it's overdone IMO.
