Don't buy your teenager a Z

My friend is a master tech at Nissan. I was going to trade my white '13 nismo for a '13 graphite nismo. Turns out the previous owner was some 17 year old high school kid with a rich daddy who got it for him. 12k miles and never changed the oil. Blew the motor and burned out the clutch. Perfectly good and awesome nismo Rays were littered with curb rash. The kid turned it into a piece of trash. It made me sad to hear and almost brought with to tears when I heard the kid traded it for a brand new nismo. Just thought I would share with anyone thinking of getting their kid a Z or any sports car for that matter. Please make sure they can drive it properly and won't trash it. Such a same to see these things just get wasted and trashed....to everyone else...treat your Z well!!!!

technically it's not totally the dbag kids fault.

the dbag (obviously non-car person) rich father is an idiot or just doesn't care.

anyone who owns a car should typically have the basic knowledge to change the oil maybe once in a while to keep it running. sadly I know the majority of people are clueless and idiots but still it's oil lol

the curb rash and clutch obviously the douche kids lack of ability to drive.

totally agree this is sad to hear.

While I agree with the majority of what you said, probably not good to get a new driver a car that can kill you. Then again, at least he wasnt rich enough to do this, like this teen moron crashing a multi million dollar car:)

LaFerrari heavily wrecked after crashing in Shanghai

every time I get pissed at the kids in my neighborhood for doing something disrespectful, my wife reminds me I should blame the parents...good point FP

"..while those awful fluorescent sneakers could have something to do with it since those aren't suitable when driving a supercar."

yea well I think I saw a young girl on tv last night with downs and cancer. if there's a god he obviously has a fucked up sense of humor.

probably why the Ferrari had to die.

i agree it's both their faults. More so the dumass dad for buying his kid a 350hp rear wheel drive car for probably his first car ever. Just retarded. "Here son, here's a fast car, now go kill yourself"

it would be different or ok if your kid has been racing karts for years or something like that but pretty much not many 16 year old kids should have a car like the Z.

I've got to agree with most of these posts. I got my first Z (Aztec Red '84 2+2) when I was 17.

I worked and saved for a long time and paid for it myself (no rich daddy situation here :), and even though I loved that car and tried my best to take care of it, I was simply too young and inexperienced to be able to do it well. (at least I knew to change the oil)... but the lack of overall driving and world experience did cause me to burn through the clutch pretty quickly... and there were definitely a few stupid/dangerous driving decisions that a little age and maturity would have easily avoided.

It's too much car for a teenager... but quite frankly, I think that in this country we let way too many teenagers drive (or, drive before they're old enough to be mature and responsible). Getting your license should be difficult. It should be a test that not everyone can pass.

i'm with you on this.

my first car (semi-joke) I was 14 and my pops brought home a busted 92 s-10 for us to work on as a project. sold that and at 15 got a 03 s-10 totaled and built it back up for my first car at 16.

at that age there is no way or reason I should have a Z. I was racing the v6 truck imagine if I had the Z lol my only positive was I had driving experience from karts and jr dragsters.

I think there should be a little more to the testing process to get a license or do what my dad did. I got one chance to pass my permit test AND only one shot to pass the actual license test or I wasn't getting a license.
