LOL still cant drive an Auto.

Something funny happened to me earlier today. Went to overtake a slow moving car in front ( 39 mph in 50 zone ), put foot on gas pedal and downshifted, the Z hit 2nd gear and hit the rev limiter a couple of times. Rev limiter works better than my old e36 m3 LOL.

Now unbenknownst (sp?) to me when I floored it a little she had already automatically dropped to 3rd I am guessing. Moral of the story stick to D mode and go cut off the padle shifters tomorrow as this old dog dont know shizzle about auto. Second moral of story, downshift first, then put foot on gas pedal :roflpuke2:

Perfection comes after practice.
and one more time. and one more time. and one more time. :icon17:

I'm still looking for a 3rd pedal when I get in the family vehicle (is an automatic) and it happens every single time.

Duc_Z09 05-11-2015 06:24 AM

My favorite is when I go for that 3rd pedal and it ends up being the edge of that retardedly wide brake pedal all automatics seem to have.:icon17:

njobe89 05-11-2015 06:54 AM

i'll be honest here, i have no idea what you tried to say there lol

The only automatics I drive are rental cars and I will inevitably jam on the brakes, hard, with my left foot at least once per rental.

My left foot just hulk smashed into that foot rest thingie on the far left. I turn the car flintstone style and use my shoe to stop my left wheel from it going through the wheel well looking for the clutch.

he floored it to get around a slow driver, car downshifts by itself, he downshifts again with the paddle shifter not expecting the car to downshift on its own and bounces off the rev limiter.

Before using the paddles.. He should move the stick to the left so the auto doesnt auto-downshift for him.

yah, i accidentally step on the brake pedal real hard with my left foot while driving AT cars... :ugh:

mishuko 05-11-2015 02:29 PM

I've hit the parking break on Toyota and lexus cars thinking it's a clutch and having it swing up and skin my shin.... :(

:icon08: ive never had that happen... that lever is pretty high up vs other pedals.

yea it was more of a step down trying to push the clutch and the edge of my shoe caught a bit of the parking break and caused it to fling up.

felt like metal vs shin and my shin wasn't the winner :shakes head:

Think of that sweet weight reduction though from the excess skin disappearing!

have you ever smashed your left foot on the foot-rest then pull the shifter from "D" to 2nd meanwhile doing a heel-toe with your right foot??

As Chong from Cheech and Chong would say "Those automatics are way too complicated mannn."

D = Drive (go forward)

R = Reverse (go backward)

It is pretty tough driving the auto.

Davey 05-13-2015 06:27 AM

I thought it was "D" for "Drive" and "R" for "Really Drive" and "P" for "Passing"?
