Just hit big 10K tonight!

http://i576.photobucket.com/albums/s...m/DSC02375.jpg

wow.. I hit the big 10,000 mile mark tonight. I have been driving back and forth to the hospital everyday. Therefore I hit the milestone a little sooner than I expected.

Those were 10,000 fantastic miles! I have enjoyed EVERY one of them. I have received countless thumbs up, positive compliments, etc from people around me. I had a lot of fun as well too. It was a perfect balance of power and handling. This car has delivered more than what I have expected from it. Big thumbs up to  Nissan for giving us such a beautiful sports coupe despite the "non sports car" like economy.

So, who else in the 10K Club?

nogoodname 10-19-2009 10:08 PM

10K mile already... that was fast!!

time to reward the Z with some goodies??

haha I agree. As soon as my dad feels better, I will focus on the Z. I think I will ask her if she wants to breathe better or if she wants winter shoes...

Here's a picture from today from the Hospital Roof (parking 9th floor)

Red370 10-19-2009 10:35 PM

how long did it take you to get to 10k? i've had mine since July 15th, already at 5k.. love every second of it.

dalparadise 10-19-2009 10:40 PM

How about a brief synopsis on the 10K - observations? Tires/wear and tear items? maintenance issues? noises? quality issues?

I know the cumulative of posts here (yours and others) has all this, I'd just be interested in a singular perspective to this point.

Absolutely! thanks for asking.

Exterior: I have kept the car pretty clean. I really didn't had any paint peeling or fading issue. Even at 10K miles, it shines really good.

Interior: I really can't find anything worth mentioning. Sometimes I get a slight rattle from the trunk area but it's intermittent and more noticeable in bumpy road.

Tires: They are in great shape. I don't do any burnouts or crazy stuff but I'm also not shy to take it to the Red line. Plenty of threads left.

Maintenance issue: NONE. I have been running Redline Synthetic(which is ester based) since 4000 miles. Car runs VERY smooth. Even during the hottest summer days, I was only able to bring the oil temp up to 230F (everyday street driving )

Also, please keep in mind, the more miles I have accumulated, the more stable car has become. During the first 1000 miles, it was a lot easier to bring the oil temp up than lets say at 9000 miles. Almost ALL high mileage members experienced the same. As mileage raked up, car felt more and more stable and everything seems to settle in.

As of 10001 miles, SynchroRev Match working flawlessly and Transmission seems to be in good shape.

I did found some metal shaving in my 2nd oil change meaning car was still breaking in. You can follow up my oil change stuff here http://www.the370z.com/diy-section-d...es-inside.html.

I did NOT notice any oil burning by the engine. I check my oil level twice a month. I think I have added 1/2 to 3/4 quart in a 5 month period, which is VERY normal.

Feel free to ask any more specific question(s) if you have.

I won't go crazy but I have some simple plans for it. I am a little occupied right now but slowly I will focus on the Z more.

Red370 10-19-2009 11:13 PM

good to know I'm not the only one who drives the piss outta their car, haha

Congrats on the Big 10k AK!

Thanks for your perspective at 10k miles.

I'll hit 4k tomorrow and I've had mine exactly 2 months - looks like I'm on pace to hit 10k in 5-6 months also.

Red370 10-19-2009 11:22 PM

awww man, so exclusive, booo! i'll be there in a month :)

dalparadise 10-20-2009 01:04 AM

Thanks for the write-up. Loved the oil change DIY, too.

Hope to start adding some substance to this discussion soon (2010 is coming).

Heh heh Frostie, I'd post pics of my '96 Camry................but I'm not selling. 71000 miles on her, that's 71000 that prolly would have gone on my Benz. :tiphat:

Not to mention I can park it anywhere. It has LoJack! lmao I love that car.

polarity 10-20-2009 08:47 AM

I'm up to 13,270. Daily driving is really piling the miles on but I'm loving every one of them.

510z 10-20-2009 08:59 AM

Good to see I'm not the only one who hasn't put many miles on their car. Had mine since April and only 3200.

theDreamer 10-20-2009 10:30 AM

Got mine in May and just passed 8k this past weekend.

tranceformer 10-20-2009 11:29 AM

Nice! Now that your mileage is getting up there, you must be getting some crap in the mail from Nissan to do a "minor" service.

I'm at 93xx right now, been getting a ton of junk mail from Nissan.

Caravanshaka 10-20-2009 11:44 AM

I'm about 9600 and bought the car on may 2nd at a dealership over 100 miles from my house. I've got a 65 mile round-trip daily drive to work, so the miles add up quickly.

I've also been tossing around the idea of a beater altima or something to drive to work.

Grats on 10k AK!

StLRedrider 10-20-2009 12:03 PM

congrats on the BIG 10 grand mark

Modshack 10-20-2009 01:56 PM

Just clicked over 4K since April...Not having to commute and a month in the body shop kept it down...

kannibul 10-20-2009 03:57 PM

I'm at 2050. At this rate, I'll hit 10K in about 2 years.

initialgemini 10-20-2009 04:04 PM

I'm at 11K right now. I've had mine since march as well.

Bought mine on January 19th. It's my daily driver also but I don't track it. I've got 17,980 miles on it and I agree...all great miles. Congrats to AK370Z at 10K

Jowe 10-20-2009 07:59 PM

I just hit 10,000 this morning. The best 10K miles I have driven in my life.

Congrats the 10K club gents. I only average about 3500 miles a year on each of my "toys". I only drive them in dry weather (no rain or snow). I highly recommend something else as a daily driver if anyone is interested in keeping their miles low.

So I guess with that I'll be joining the 10k club in 2011... :tiphat:
