Z unscathed and the world has one less flying rat.

Ironic you should mention this; had very nearly the same thing happen to me about a year ago. Driving down a quaint, quiet little neighborhood and out of nowhere a dove or pigeon swoops down real low, from left to right. I had no sooner seen it myself then I was on top of it, and didn't have time to avoid it. I could swear I heard the faintest "squawk" sound, and in the rear view, a large cloud of feathers...but when I went to check for anything in my grill, undercarriage or tires: nothing. No feathers, blood or bird carcass to be seen. Had me tripping out the rest of the day.

WTF? You bump a 2 year old thread to post that? Wow.

had no idea it was 2 years old

i think every sports car out has a quiet stock setup.

wdkwang 05-10-2011 06:44 PM

personally i think the z stock is fairly quiet for a sports car. even with an intake and a catback on mine now, i sometimes wonder if my car is on if i'm standing more than 10 feet away from it

How does the cabin noise compare to other small/sports cars, like an Eclipse or GTi?

Who ever told you that I want to know what he the hell he is smoking... :shakes head:

That.

There's definitely some road noise, but it's not enough for me to complain about.
Now, if i was driving a Lexus, this amount of road noise might be unacceptable.

wdkwang 05-10-2011 10:58 PM

i can tell you that it's louder than your typical car or sporty car for that matter, but this is a real sports car. i personally want a car that handles on rails, where i can feel the road through the tires, that feels planted, can take a beating from repeated redlining and drifting, and fits like a glove. my friends that drive a g35, 335i, mazda 6, speed 6, and rsx feel an immediate difference when they drive my car. the one that drives a speed 6 said "this feels like a real race car." i'm not a fanboy of the car but i ultimately chose this car cause for the price range and what is available on the market right now, this car suits me and my needs for a daily driven sports car. i can hold a normal conversation in the car no problem at all. my passengers have noted it is a pain to get in and out of the car, and the girls have said the door feels heavy, but those are negligible factors.
everything comes down to you just going for a 30 min test drive and see if the car fits you.

I drove a few 370Z's. The noise was in proportion to what the car was. It was not obnoxious as all, and the exhaust is FAR from overwhelming. Comfortable, sporty coupe. That's how I would describe it. The ergos are excellent, as well!

Lol... that's what I'm satin now.

My mod list starts with brakes, then valve body and torque converter, then intake and exhaust. But I'm seriously considering exhaust first. The Z is way too quiet in cruise and you gotta floor it to hear it get crazy...

Isn't there that tanabe quiet exhaust for those that want to destroy the cars personality. Also you can opt for non sport for less road noise. Switch to hankook ventus es4 if u want completely stealth. That should completely dorkify the Z. Lol

I recently had a test drive, and my adrenaline was up and my focus was on other things like the clutch smoothness, handling, acceleration, the new car smell, etc.
I guess I should just go to every dealer within a 50 mile radius, and hit them up for a 20 min test drive per week until I log 5 hours of behind the wheel time.

Or you could just leave your car behind and do a take home test drive for a couple of days.

On ours, I have more issues with the road noise from the stock tires. Exhaust sounds great.
