370Z is no louder than other compact sports cars?
I am very close to getting a new Z, but I hear alot of stuff about the Z being very loud. I see them on the road, and the exhaust is very overwhelming, like a Pony car's V8?
How does the cabin noise compare to other small/sports cars, like an Eclipse or GTi? |
loud? I couldn't even hear the exhaust before i changed it lol. It actually p'd me off how quiet these cars are stock they definately need an aftermarket exhaust I reckon.

dont buy one, else youll just be disappointed!!! |
If you are close to buying one don't you think you should test drive one first and make an educated buying decision
|
I'd test drive one first.. make the decision then
|
I agree, the exhaust is very quiet the inside road noise is there but nothing to worry about. Why don't you test drive a Z and find out for yourself. Instead of listening to other people's negative comments

wth? dogs cant even hear my z coming

the 370z exhaust is near silent. it sucks.
i had to order a aftermarket catback exhaust in order to be happy. otherwise it sounds like a nissan altima. |
What...I run over dogs? I thought those were bonus points that popped up from hitting all the kids.

Thanks for the many jackass responses, and the few real ones.
I recently had a test drive, and my adrenaline was up and my focus was on other things like the clutch smoothness, handling, acceleration, the new car smell, etc. I guess I should just go to every dealer within a 50 mile radius, and hit them up for a 20 min test drive per week until I log 5 hours of behind the wheel time. |

The people that complain about the noise in the car aren't talking about the exhaust usually but instead the road noise. They forget that the new Z is intended to be a sports car and that it isn't designed to cater to their pampered ass. If you want a sports car, stiffer ride, aggressive handling then the Z is for you. If you want something thats nice but quieter inside, low road noise, nice stereo and still has power, get the G. FWIW- This kind of thing has been covered a ton on this forum.. hence our responses.. Hope that helps. |
I splattered a pigeon before I swapped my stock exhaust for a stillen cbe :)
|
Ouch!
|
I almost hit a seagull on my motorcycle while coming over the top of a bridge.. that would have sucked..

LOL, yup. SMACK ...followed by me saying 'oh $hit!' |
Coming from an 05 350Z Touring with Nismo exhaust and Berks HFC, I'd say this car is so damn quiet that I'm very unpleased with the way it sounds (unless your revving over 4500-5000 RPM which is uncommon for me as a daily drive car)....I miss that loud VQ35DE roar and exhaust sound when I'm driving my 370Z, and that has definitely made me add exhaust and HFC to my to do list.

I'm not necessarily wondering if its too loud. Rather, I'm wondering if it's louder than similar cars.
|
i thought my Z sounds like a truck when i am accelerating from 1st gear.

Coming from 2 Audi TTs (and yes they are 4 cyl) the Z is actually a good bit louder than they are. They (TT) are nice sports cars and are pretty well insulated to keep noise out but IMO the Z is not really quiet but mine will be louder soon with my FI exhaust.
