Overconfident driver.

Do you suppose the driver wore his seat belt? He was ejected.

No way to tell by the newspaper account. The driver may have unhitched the seatbelt after the crash and attempted to crawl out after the accident. But looking at the photo, the cabin structure looks relatively intact and that probably saved the driver's life. Nissan builds some extremely strong cars.

This is a case of engine swap done wrong.

Hope all involved will survive and recover. Also saddened by seeing the destruction of yet another Z.

Also this is why people advocate going to the track. If you want to push limits at least show a little consideration for the public.

Base model...should have bought the touring w/sport would have stayed in one piece. J/k in all seriousness glad no one died good grief could have been so much worse.

Although, now that you mention it, the last crash was also a base model...

Not that this compensates for driver error/recklessness or bad luck, but am I correct that the base not only lacks the BBK, but also the VLSD.

Those seem like important features for regaining control if you lose it...

Just live and drive in any major city in Texas to get a taste of some of the worst a$$hole drivers you can meet. Mix that with the fastest posted speed limits to any state adds to the fun.

The LSD helps for traction. Once traction is lost then it doesn't matter how big your brakes are. You can't stomp on your brakes at high speeds in a curve or you'll spin out. Base or sport, it doesn't matter. The driver mod is the most important.

thank god for those strategic crumple zones..

Throw some snow on top of that and I imagine it's great fun. I never have to worry about driving on an icy road with the OEM summer tires as I'm from south Florida, but your entire state gets snow once in a blue moon.
