regardless, we own a sports car. to say you never will take it to or over 100 means you shouldn't own the car. yes there are tracks but it does happen on the highway. get over it.

:tiphat:

I DD my car and on public roads have not gone above 80mph (in a 70 zone). I go a few times a year to a track and get it moving faster than that. It doesn't happen on the highway when I'm driving or riding in a car. Not to mention if I had a major infraction like that I'd have to report it to the state board, who might put me on probation. If I was drunk/DUI and did something stupid like this the state board WOULD put me on probation and the DEA would take away my license.

Yup I own a sports car, not an invulnerability machine . To each their own, I just will probably live longer and pay a lot less in court fines.

I will fully admit that when I was 16 and stupid I got my civic up much faster than I should have on a public road. I didn't wreck or get a ticket or anything but I will not do that again.

why spend X amount of dollars to not use something.

that's like buying a hooker......just to talk to her.

buying a tv but not turning it on.

etc etc etc.....

Or buying a gun....and not shooting something living?

buying insurance....and not taking stupid risks?

/devils advocate

you're not the only one who DD's. aside from the few winter months here I DD mine. i'm sorry but you just sound to lame and old talking about driving the speed limit.

I think it may come down to driving ability. if you're not a good driver then you're scared of high speeds I guess.

side note: you owned a civic.....also a fail.

I don't want to start a e-thread-war

I'm lame. I did have a civic as my first car (I'd call that responsible parenting). I'm actually trying to purchase an early 90s civic for a DD now. Can't argue with 50mpg and trunk space - makes sense to me. But yeah, I guess I'm boring.

You're right, I'm a crap driver and I'm scared to drive a car fast.

makes zero sense to have a Z and not want to drive it fast.

you paid your money do what you want just don't ever tell me that people who do use the car for it's purpose are idiots and deserve to have the car taken away. if you can be lame with yours let the rest of us enjoy ours.

I guess I enjoy my car a different way. Like track days and autocross. (hopefully I'll have our team's 200sx prepped for Rally-X in a month or two). I know, that makes me pretty homosexual I guess.

To Each Their Own.

never said track events/auto x was "homosexual". you went there on your own with that.

my comments were strictly about you downing on someone who pressed their gas on the highway and what followed.

I guess I have to make sure my son's first car is a civic, so I can be a "responsible parent"

Mods, is this true? I can drive my car well over the speed limit and that's cool with you guys? ...or do you want to shut this f'er up?

I think a econobox is a good car to to teach a kid responsibility and humility. But I'm boring.

On a related note, a kid at my high school got a viper for his first car. Rolled it and his parents bought him a landrover.
