I'm not sure he deserves what he got, but, if he was DUI and driving like an idiot, I'd have a hard time arguing against it.

At least the idiot didn't take out a family of 4. Deserved what he got.

has it been proven he was drunk?

the article says "awaiting toxicology reports".

ever think someone can be driving that late and not be drunk? dude could be working a night shift or something.

don't jump to "he deserved it" nonsense already.

yea I get it that drunk driving is a terrible thing and hurting others is the biggest concern with it. I guarantee there's people who will say something negative and forget that they probably have had a drink or a few and driven home not knowing if they were close or even oh dear....over the limit.

I'm skeptical that guardrail specs include safely stopping a 3200 pound car going 100 MPH - yeah, its probably supposed to crumple but freak things happen at that speed. He could have been skewered by one of the guardrail posts; would we then be saying that those posts ought to break away in a crash?

You can bet there are some lawyers who will be willing to take the case cause the man was injured due to the guard rail.

Glad he's ok and learned his lesson. Don't drive fast!

hah.

Guard rails aren't designed to stop a vehicle moving 100mph.

Read the attached article. Don't blame the guard rails for tearing up the car. He shouldn't have been doing 100.

Drunk or not he shouldn't have been going that speed on public roads.

I don't think he deserved this. What he deserved was to have his car taken away and given to someone who's not an idiot, and to have his license revoked.

it's only illegal if you get caught......or in this case, wreck. :stirthepot:

don't act like you've never gone 1mph over the posted limit. that is considered speeding and then you would fall into the same category.

breaking the law is breaking the law whether it's 1mph or 100mph.

so either shut up or :gtfo2:

...except it's really not. That's why you get a bigger fine for 25+ over than for 15 over. It's also why words like "reckless driving" and "mandatory suspension" don't get thrown around for low-speed violations.:shakes head:

doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mi................wait.

regardless, we own a sports car. to say you never will take it to or over 100 means you shouldn't own the car. yes there are tracks but it does happen on the highway. get over it.

Have to agree here. There is no way you can own a sports car without having fun once in a while. Not saying going 100+ on the freeway is always a good idea... Just that you bought this car to enjoy it and that's what he was doing. His luck just ran out.
