Default Nismo Clutch

I had my Nismo for just a month, I notice on hard accelerations with the VDC on some clutch slipping in third gear... Is this normal or is it time to change the clutch? I only happens in third at redline, hard shifting... Thanks!

im kinda confused. so you are in third gear and approaching redline, thats when you feel the clutch slip? if you are already at redline are you saying the rpms then jump past that when it slips?

I just posted something on this today in the track-autocross-drift-dragstrip section.

My stock clutch started slipping at around 15k at anything at 6500 rpms and above. That was with a lot of different drivers, track and autox days. Then I boiled my clutch fluid this summer, but thought the CSC failed, and decided to replace everything.
If your looking for a replacement, this is I went this direction, and I'm really happy with it. I'm still on the fence if I should have gone with the aluminum flywheel or if the light weight steel one that I got is better.

Thanks, my car has 26k. I feel it slipping from 2nd gear to 3rd if the car is at 7,400rpm only with the vdc on. I though it was the VDC working...

Try turning VDC off and testing it. It seems VDC can be a little over bearing. Mine likes to cut power when I mash it at around 4500 RPM. I guess it thinks I can't handle the power? but when I turn VDC off, all is fine.

Sounds like how my issue started. I could smell my clutch when it was slipping, are you getting that at all, any reason your shifting at 7400 rpms?

Can't you guys tell when your VDC is kicking on?

I sometimes get the traction light when I floor it at peak RPM even in like 2nd gear with good tires. I thought it was slip at first but then found out it was dang VDC.

Apollo no smell at all.... which is why I wonder... At what RPM do you rev when racing another car? 7,400..... Elan with the VDC off the car goes sideways when I shift hard in 2nd gear with basically new Bridgestone RE-11 tires....... I just getting to know the car since all my previous cars where FWD...

So are you having this slip clutch slip issue when you see this slipping car light come?
The VDC coming on is something you could mistake for clutch slipage if you didn't know. I only turn vdc off when I'm racing or hooning.

As for race shifting, I usually shift around 6800 rpms. Here is a link to a racing shift point discussion on this site that you might find interesting. redline/peak H.P/ & H.P curve-When to shift?? :) intresting???

Mine goes sideways too. But I'm talking about downshifting to 2nd and then punching it. No wiggle but I think VDC senses some yaw and cuts power. Confused me for a second and then turned it off and got the results I expected. If only we had competitive driving mode like the Vette...

This was happening to me and all it was, was low clutch fluid. Added fluid to a bit passed the full line and prenomen was gone. However I had already purchased a clutch kit since I initially thought it was my clutch wearing out.
