Miles on a Nismo

So how many of you actually drive the Nismo every day? How many store it for maybe once a week or only nice days?

I am having a hard time not driving it. But I also dont want to put the miles on it, so I discipline myself and leave it in the garage.

Who has the highest miles?

Ackrite 03-27-2012 01:02 PM

Mine is only two weeks old, but its my DD a least until my allergies calm down so I can start riding my bike again. Sneezing with a full face helmet on is no fun. I also don't believe in not using something that I'm paying for.

I was using it as a dd a year ago but I moved to Dallas for school so now I use my prelude to go back and forth to Houston, so I drive it whenever I go back home.

Armhunter 03-27-2012 01:11 PM

I just bought mine on Sunday. But I drove it from Modesto, CA to Bakersfield, CA. It has about 280 miles on it. I am going to try to leave it alone today. I have an FJ Cruiser I will keep driving to split up the miles on it.

fuct 03-27-2012 01:11 PM

Mine is a DD and track day car. I've had it since new in Oct. 2010 and have about 24k miles on it as of today.

I regularly drive from Dallas to Houston/Austin/OKC for business and honestly except for some harshness on highway seams, it's really one of the best highway cars I've driven. Point it, set the cruise, and it just goes.

Make sure you check for and remove the shipping spacers from off of the front springs. Don't take the dealership's word that they are removed.:tiphat:

Pelican170 03-27-2012 01:44 PM

I only drive mine on nice days... I told myself I have to drive it more this year. Got it in summer of 2010 and only have about 5100 miles on it...

NissanGuy23 03-27-2012 01:49 PM

Mine is a daily driver. I got it on feb 04 this year, with 21,699 miles on it i now have 25,150. So, i def need to slow down! I freqently go out for an hour plus drive for no reason, or go to the walmart 20 miles away when i could just go down the street to get XYZ. My work is 2 miles away so i have very little work related miles

Niche79 03-27-2012 03:11 PM

I live so close to work, even my DD only had got 5k miles in the last 2 years, but I dont take that on road trips either as being a DD, Im worried about taking my older car that far:) 10 mins and im sitting in the jobs parking lot! I like to keep any new car to 10k or less even with road trips etc just for resale purposes down the road.

roplusbee 03-27-2012 04:29 PM

Mine is my DD. 28K on her right now and I have been in Afghanistan for 10 months. I picked her up in March of 2010, but closed the deal in October of 2009. Gotta love deployments!

nismonster 03-27-2012 04:36 PM

I bought my 2009 nismo in June 2011 with ~4k miles on it. There are ~20k miles on it now, 9 months later...no intentions of slowing down. The more I drive it, the more I want to drive it.

MJB 03-27-2012 06:07 PM

Mine isn't a DD and is currently in storage

09 with 14k miles on it.

DCNISMO 03-27-2012 07:22 PM

I only drive on weekends since I live and work in the city. I. don't think I would use it as a daily driver if I had to do a lot of city driving. Highway would be ok but not city.

pokeyl 03-27-2012 08:16 PM

OK I drive 54 miles one way to work each day, but I spend 6 month deployed a year. I ride the ZX10r on nice days. You do the math.

roplusbee 03-27-2012 08:44 PM

I don't thing city driving is too bad. That things that gets people is not getting a chance to open her up on occasion. I do that as much as possible. And avoid all of the randomness in the road doing it, lol!

Armhunter 03-27-2012 11:15 PM

Nice, this is awesome to hear all the stories.

Raw_Shark 03-28-2012 10:57 AM

I didn't plan on mine being a daily driver, but if it's not pouring down rain, I HAVE to drive it. I've put almost 5k miles on mine since October. I'm at just over 29,700mi.

My daily commute is about 30 miles round trip, half highway half city. Depending on my schedule, I hit heavy stop and go traffic about every other day. These cars aren't bad in traffic at all, especially with the clutch spring mod.

heebus 03-28-2012 01:27 PM

Mine is my DD. My round trip is 46 miles 95% highway 70-80mph. I got it 1/26/2012 and I have 3100 miles already. I enjoy taking her out to Malibu on the weekends.

The first day I got her I saw 3 280's on the freeway. I see a lot of old Zs driving around. I hope one day 30 years from now a new Z owner sees me still driving the Nismo.

marks370z 03-28-2012 04:22 PM

I've had mine for 3 days now and I just hit 600 miles. My daily was an '06 4runner but as soon as I got the NISMO I retired the SUV until I need to go camping or somewhere that requires space. Haha.

RobMan 03-28-2012 05:37 PM

I just hit 10K on my 09 and am pretty sad about it.

gofaster87 03-28-2012 05:51 PM

Id like to drive mine everywhere but Vegas is a harsh environment. Its guaranteed that your dd will get backed into or scratched/dinged every couple of months here. They say over 75% of the lv population is intoxicated or high on something after 8pm.

fuct 03-29-2012 08:41 AM

2010 bought with 7 miles on July 1st. im at 36k now!

That's a good point. If I had to park in a crowded/public area at work I would leave the 370z at home most days. Luckily we have a private parking deck, and I park on the very top where it's empty. If I couldn't do that I wouldn't daily drive her.

MrJdmNismo 03-30-2012 02:53 PM

i DAILY my 2011 just hit 20k

antfd3s 04-01-2012 08:13 AM

No dry rot or flat spots on my tires. I just hit 31k on my 09. This car is made to be driven. I can't imagine it just sitting in a garage on a nice days. I have Fwd beater, but drive that on shity days. I don't p@@@yfoot my Z either. It feels better unleashed. I remember 1 thing my grandfather told me,"you only live once and you cant take it with ya when your gone. So with that's said I'm not gonna worry about the petty things in life. Especially not a sports car. That's just silly to me. Same mentality if I owned a GT-R. If I had money to purchase 1 then i have the money fix it if it breaks. Omg! Where did this chip in the paint come from?! Auhh..it's a car and meant to happen? Lol
The Z isn't a collectors piece. Im sure the majority of 370owners are already waiting for the 380z or the next Z to come out. Sorry if I hurt some garage members feelings here. I just don't get it. This car is to much fun not to drive.

roplusbee 04-01-2012 05:27 PM

I will be sad when the next Z is released. I will have just really gotten into mine good, lol. I agree with you though. The Z is definitely meant to drive. I think the more it sits around collecting dust, the more issues will arise. Once I get back, I am going to give here a good once over and drive her like intended.............

haha i would be sad/excited when the new Z comes out. Hopefully in 2015 cause by then i'll be ready..but in the meantime im gonna have as much fun with this one as i did w my 350s.

FortuneLSX-TT 04-06-2012 10:12 AM

I'm at 34k with about 15k boosted miles. Bought new in May 2010, its my DD.

Halfway on my third set of tires :) Funny thing...the fronts and the rears used to wear out at the same time. After adding the turbos, the rears seem to wear out a bit faster. I think my alignment may be off.

To me the Z is a collectors piece. They number the Nismo's. My buddy also thinks its a collectors piece. Evidently I had the money to purchase it. It is sitting in my garage. Along with our Audi and FJ.

I try to drive it everyday.. going to skip the bad days.

For me its not about trying to keep the miles down on my Nismo, or make it into a garage queen... its just a very impractical car. I'm not going to daily drive a 2 seat sports car that I can't hardly even fit anything in it. Plus I live in WA state where it rains almost daily during the winter/fall months, not a good combo when you have summer performance tires on it.

It all depends on your definition of practical. I use mine for everything, including grocery shopping. I find I can hold a weeks worth of groceries just fine. It can also hold the luggage for me and my g/f when we go on trips. I live in Florida where it rains quite a bit as well, and while driving in the rain isn't my favorite activity, it's certainly liveable even with RE-11's and turbos.

So for me, it's practical enough. To me an extra 2 seats or more cargo space that I don't use would just be wasted.

I understand what you are saying... but I doubt Florida gets much snow:p. It depends on everybody's situation... I own a truck.. which is 100x's more comfortable to me to DD than the Niz.

Not much snow here. And I'll agree with you that the ride can be a bit harsh. Everyone else is fine with the roads, whereas I want to find the people who work on the roads here and yell at them for not being able to make them smoother.

I actually love the ride! I love how you can feel the road. I love the outside sound too. I drive my Fj when I have work or bad weather or need the room for other things, other then that, I drive the Nismo. But I wont bash on anyone who just keeps it in their garage and only drives it every once in a while. If I could resist it, I would keep in the garage more then not.

Its your car and you can Love it the way you want too.
