oil filter
 

i am looking at getting redline oil and am confused on what oil filter to purchase. i plan on changing my oil every 7k (nismo is a dd with the ocassional fun run :driving: ). i read the pureone filter should be changed every 3k. problem is i dont want to have oil good for 7k but changing it every 3k due to the filter. those of you with 7k intervals what filter are you using and have you experienced any problems?

The only filter as of late would be the new one by Royal Purple. It's the only filter that can go the distance along with a long term oil. There are many oils that can go longer intervals between oil changes but no filter to match. Go to the Royal Purple website and check it out. And use Royal Purple instead of redline. Oh and you may have to look up the 09 370z cuz when I ordered they didn't have it for 10. The cars the same from the previous year so it's ok. The oil change interval with Royal Purple is 12k miles.

I use Mobil1 extended performance oil filters they are designed for longer intervals...little pricey though

Sorry didn't mean to sound like an advertisement but credit should be given where credit is due. Royal Purple was the only company that solved the bullet train vibration problem. That's not the only reason to get Royal Purple just throwin it out there. Check out their website or any other independent tests.

I think I saw on here that someone had a blackstone oil analysis done on royal purple and it wasnt all that great

Really? I gotta see that. What does the blackstone mean? Or is that just a name? If that's the case, might have to go back to mobil 1.

Blackstone Labs is the name of the company that does the oil analysis

Engines are all different and oils are all different. Some oils really play well with certain motors and not others. An oil analysis is the only way to really determine what works best with a certain motor.

Went to the blackstone site. Seems they do analysis of oil on a particular vehicle to determine what's wrong with your engine. It doesn't show tests of oils and which is the best, just analysis of your set up to determine what's happening to your engine. If you look up best oils, mobil 1 pops up everywhere but then you see best synthetic oil and Royal Purple pops up everywhere. Stick n with Royal Purple along with their filter. Look at how the filter is made and judge for yourself. You gain power just from swapping out your oil, tranny and differential fluids. And the fluid change interval period is longer as well.

You should have an analysis done on your royal purple they will tell you how often you should change your oil as well as how your oil is working for your motor because like someone said above royal purple might be the very best oil for one engine and the worst for another

i bought the long amsoil filter..... $22!!!!!! but its synthetic and not paper.

Just remember to make sure the filter has a check valve to assist in keeping oil up in the engine rather then it all easily draining into the pan. It does make a difference on start up. A Nissan dealer I had change my oil used an after market filter. I noticed at start-up it took longer for the tapping to go away. I went to a different Nissan dealer and they showed me the aftermarket filter and notified me I did not get the ester oil I paid for. This is when they told me the difference between the OEM filter and other filters. It did make a difference.
