All 6 were on mine, too (3 on both sides). It definitely drives much nicer without them. Now that they're off I wonder what the hell I was thinking when they were still on. Speed bumps used to make me cringe, now they're fine.

F1loco 07-07-2010 02:30 PM

After 1st owner, 4k miles, and a pre-cert inspection, still had the inside braces...unbelievable....

I remember how it used to be driving over railroad tracks, or any non-smooth road. It was a NIGHTMARE. I started having pretty bad back pains (already have a bad back) and seriously considered the fact that I'd have to trade it in for something a little more comfortable. Even turning felt uncomfortable.

Now we know why the original owner got rid of it, haha. That's unfortunate, but glad you found them!

Seemed a real struggle to see in the wheel arch.

I managed to slide my arm in the fronts, but could not feel anything in the coils.

Do I really need to get this up on a lift to check for these?

If you turn your wheels to the outer exremes, you should be able to both see and feel them, but not remove them (obviously).

If you can't feel anything in the coils, it's possible they aren't there. You'll definitely be able to see them though. If it's only the last spacer left (the one in the back) you may not be able to feel it if you can't reach behind the spring.

Take a flashlight and look. I had to show the dealer the back ones. They didn't believe me when I told them they were still in there.

israel7 07-26-2010 04:04 PM

great finding. i just bought my NISMO this past thursday, read the post sat night and removed 4 stoppers, 2 each side, sunday afternoon. clowns at nissan for not removing them...a bunch of savages in the town.

chii370 08-15-2010 02:07 AM

lol i had the shipping spacers on the front of my nismo too, i had been driving it for about 2 days before i got sick of how rough the car was riding and investigated lol.

That just means they only removed the (1) on each side that they could get to easily

see what I found,

Bottom line.. Yup, it is meant to be taken out.
Sue your Nissan Dealers if they haven't :)

None of'em are attached to my springs,
Checked'em thoroughly.

Thank you forum!

G Fo12ce 08-16-2010 09:15 PM

Nice find. It's sad the lackie PDI tech is given directions, a drawing and a count of how many spacers there are and we keep getting new owners with this problem. I also had a stripe of the clear tape mentioned on that on the bottom of my chin spoiler I took off as well.

Jose Aliling 08-25-2010 09:41 AM

will check mine tomorrow thanks

Mythic 09-02-2010 09:36 AM

This is just crazy...I'll check mine today, thanks!

if this tag says you should only drive a max of 10mph with the spacers im sure doing 100mph is not too good...... i had zero spacers but i sent this link to my nissan salesman.

Anyone have pictures of what the rear spacers look like?

AFAIK, the rear never had spacers. My understanding is the purpose of the front spacers was to stiffen the suspension so the nose didn't dip when loading and unloading the car from shipping containers.

I don't see any of the rear on the first page. Only the fronts

chops 10-20-2010 12:06 AM

just picked up my PW nismo...all 3 on each front spring are still attached. service was already closed so they told me to come back tomorrow. ride home was HARSH!

Dubro 01-04-2011 01:05 PM

Told the dealer to remove these when I was buying the car. Thought he did. About a 2 weeks later I was under the car and looked up and saw he left 2 on the back side of the coil. Proves you cant trust a dealer to even perform something this basic. You always need to babysit and supervise them.

cdoxp800 01-05-2011 12:27 PM

We had a 1991 300zx on the lift yesterday. Guess what I found? Someone left the same spring supports on it since 1991. Amazing.

They are shipping spacers, it prevents the front suspension from compressing much so the spoiler doesn't scrape while being loaded and unloaded from the car carriers.

MrJdmNismo 01-27-2011 10:04 AM

Would da 2011 NISMO have this???

MrJdmNismo 01-28-2011 03:55 AM

There is 3 on each front spring. When they prep your vehicle for delivery they are supposed to remove them but sometimes they only see the outside one and leave the other 2.

MrJdmNismo 01-28-2011 12:41 PM

Im going 2 check it out 2morrow n also I'm adding washers on my exhaust ill add a vid on my YouTube and take pics of da spacers too...

NismoKeith 02-15-2011 10:20 PM

holy #!#$. I was wondering why it looked like a regular 370 was lower than my nismo. I think the stealership will squeeze me in tomorrow.

Bodytechz 03-28-2011 09:59 AM

WOW, I am so glad I checked out this thread! I'll be damn sure to check out my car when I get home tonight after work! I just got it on 03/26/11 and was thinking that it rides pretty stiff, now I'm wondering if this issue is the reason why. I'll let everyone know soon! :ugh2:

Well, I did check when I go home last night and YES I found them installed (1 on each front) and removed them. Not sure I noticed a big difference in ride though...

Crazy4Z 04-15-2011 11:20 PM

damn. now i have to check my springs.

Crazy4Z 04-16-2011 04:07 PM

i don't have the brackets. thank god.

ArtK 05-15-2011 01:25 PM

Does anyone know if the Sports Package has these same brackets on the springs that need to come off?

No, only the Nismo has them because of its low front fascia.

Hello Z Fam! Ever since I was a kid I've wanted two cars, a Porsche 911 Turbo and a Z. I finally took delivery of my 2011 370Z Nismo in Gun Metallic about 3 weeks ago...and I don't care if I ever get the Porsche! Been reading the board for a few days now and finally joined last night. I'm traveling and don't get back home till Sunday and the very first thing I'm doing is checking for these little bastards! Thanks for the heads up! I'm lovin the cars and the discussions on here, and am stoked about being a part of this movement. Looking forward to meeting some SoCal Z people very soon. Cheers!

Crazy4Z 05-20-2011 02:24 PM

What little bastards are you referring too? And im from LBC. Welcome!

Cuban Z 05-20-2011 04:34 PM

Thank you Crazy4Z. The shipping spacers that started this thread (see 1st page).
I hit the LBC for work about 2-3 times a month. Do you know if there are any meetups around our way? I'd love to run with a bunch of other Zs and hang out. Can't wait to run mine through the mountains up this way.

They have the Cerritos Meet. I forgot when they go but if you go to the regional forum you can find the guys on there to meet up. I havent gone yet. I usually work on the days they have the meets. So yea. If anything I would try to go with them on the cruise in the canyons I havent yet. I only go by myself and went to Mullholland twice already. Its fun. When I had my Evo I use to go to different canyons with the socalevo guys in long beach. But ever since I got the 370z I just go with a friend or by myself to drive.

Where you from?
