Jersey...ha ha...North Jersey, right across the river from Manhattan.
I'm down with that...let me know when you want to go. |
I ment where in cali.
|
Santa Monica...only been here a year, still not used to being from here...
|
Dont worry youll get use to it. I lived in Upstate NY for about 5 years. Visited Jersey and NY city several times..... omg I hate the streets. Bad for the car.

Picked up my NISMO QAB yesterday, damn this thing rides harsh I thought! I figured what the heck, I'd get used to it. I read this post and went out to check the front and rear shocks!
Those nasty little shock spacers, two on each coil are on the front shocks! I will take the car to the dealer on Monday to have them taken off and noted on file just in case I have any issues with the suspension in the future. Boy am I glad I read this post! Thanks G. V |
Going to look now
|
mine had them too
|
My Niz still had the spacers on the front left/right. I thought the ride was a little too rough 370 miles later so I took a good look today...and sure as sh...t they were there on the front springs. Took it back to the dealer to remove. Hopefully they will double check when the next Niz is sold. Funny...I remember my niz had a tag in the window to remind service to remove the spacers. It was also checked off on PDI checklist as being removed. Thanks for the heads up fellow Zowners.

Ups! I am going to have a Nismo! I will check this everything!
|
You believe it. Mine still has all 4 of them installed. I'm the second owner of the Nismo. You would have thought that the former owner who was a member here. Would of checked to see if they was still there. When I bought it. It was certified used with 4 new tires and they said everything was taken care of. :shakes head: Now, it makes me wonder.
|
thank you i just got my nismo 300miles into break in was wondering why its so bumpy im going to check now.

Yea, I have only had the car for a week, but it has 8,000 miles on it. Took it to Nissan today and they took all "6" off. My friend is a mechanic there, and was super shocked when I told him about it.
|
Just to let y'all know a little something... These spacers are not limited to just the 370 NISMO. A friend of mine has a 2007 350 NISMO. He was complaining that the car has always had a rough ride and also mentioned that he has read articles stating his car was not meant for road trips. I asked him if the shipping spacers were removed and he thought they were. We went outside and checked.... Wait for it... He still had a spacer on each spring. Needless to say, dude was pissed and I have yet to hear back from him.

We had a brand new 2012 NISMO come in the other day...still had the dealer tag on it...and still had the spacers installed. As a courtesy we put the car on the lift and removed the spacers for the owner. This is still an issue Nissan is having with the NISMO's even after it has been out for 2 years.
|
All 3 Nismo's at the dealership I went to today had them on. I had them remove them from the one I purchased :tiphat:

Suspension
I just picked up my 2012 Nismo this week. I read the post about the coil shipping spacers and sure as sh**, I found them on my front end suspension.
Thanks for the find! |
Thank god I read this. I just checked my 2011 Nismo that I've had for 7 months and the spacers are still there!
|
Just checked my 2012 and the ones on the back side are still on... wow... Can't believe this is still an issue for nissan.

ahh, yeah, I found 2 on each front spring myself of my 2011, thanks to this thread, I got them off just a month after I purchased my Nis. Called the dealer, they had no clue these spacers even existed, they do now lol.
|
How much does this lower your car. Looking at getting them off this weekend but I honestly don't have a lot of room to spare on these cliff angled parking entrances in WI. I swear I need to post some pics of these sometime. They are like 45 degree + to get into a parking lot... like wtf, not everyone drives an SUV. Even my malibu scrapes on occasion.
|
So get this...I bought a 2009 nismo about a week ago and found the spacers on the front shocks...The car has 26000 miles on it and they were never removed. This is after a full inspection by the nissan dealership i purchased it from. Needless to say i was pretty pissed. Their top certified GT-R mechanics can't find shipping spacers on my car but i can look on forums for 20 minutes and figure out that they dont need to be on there. I was wondering if these things can pose problems after so many miles have been put on the car?
|
I ended up emailing my dealership about them because they had another Nismo there. They emailed me back a few days later saying that they were still on the other one as well and their mechanic took them off. He thanked me for doing them one solid. Hopefully the next test driver won't have a ride that breaks the back.
How much did it lower the front of your car can I ask? |
Wow. So I read this and thought to myself "Nahhh, this couldn't happen to me" and sure enough I was wrong!

That is completely ridiculous. Imagine how many non forum members own a Nismo or a Nismo used on a track or used in a professional review and have this regulator on the suspension really ruining the whole Nismo mojo.

I just checked my 2012 today; and sure enough I have them still installed. Has anyone noticed any problems caused from riding on these for extended periods of time? Ive had mine on since she was new and i now have 3500 miles on her
|
Benji
I was at about the same mileage when I found mine. I could have easily taken them off myself, but I took it to Nissan and had them put the details in my service records. Such as the mileage in the car and when they removed them. I haven't had any issues yet, I've had the car for about 2 years, but if something does come up with the suspension in the future, it will fall on them. |
yea, I also contact the sales rep that assisted me and advised them to remove them prior to selling.
Lol ****, I had to teach the salesman what the S-Mode button does. People don't know much apparently. |
When I bought my 2010 Nismo I was aware of this issue and asked the dealership to make sure that mine had had them removed before delivery. I was told that they had checked and that my car did not have the widgets. Great, so away I go. A couple of weeks later I decided to double check, parked at an angle over a driveway slope, turned the wheels all the way to free up room to look and reach in, ran my finger up and down the suspension coils and found nothing. Happy I didn't have them I continued on my merry way.
16 months and 20,000 miles later I replaced my tires and dropped it into my local dealer (not where I bought it) for an alignment job. When I went back to pick it up the service manager had four widgets sitting on his desk and asked me if I new what they were, of course I did. Those things are installed all the way in the back of the coils and almost impossible to see or feel unless you actually get under the car. The hard edge of the suspension is now gone and my car is a little less prone to lateral 'skipping' when pushing her hard through winding mountain corners. On the downside I now have to be a lot more careful when negotiating dips, parking garage ramps, etc... A cautionary tale, do not rely on your dealer or service center to know WTF they're doing when it comes to your Nizzie. |
Thanks for the heads up.. I have 3 of them on each side also.
|
I have'em in both of my front springs too!:shakes head::tup:
|
I will be checking for this tonight.
|
Sure enough, removed 4 spacers this morning...
