Even though I started this thread with negative reactions, there are also plenty of positive ones too. I do get a lot of love for my Z from kids. I'd drive through a neighborhood and kids playing ball or just outside would stare as I drive by, and/or yelling "WOW!" or "Nice car!" A few days ago, one kid sprinted after me yelling "STOP! STOP!!! I LOVE YOUR CAR!" as I passed him and a few of his buddies :)

I echo what Rusty said. EXACTLY! Every single day.

the negative attention is not justified but should be expected.

i learned the hard way and sold my 2014 nismo for this reason.
the decision maker for me was having someone in an old pickup truck staring at me in his rearview mirror for over a mile on a 1 way highway. I wasnt tailgating by any means and knew he was staring because of the looks of the car (i was used to the attention by this point and had already been keyed). Then he slowed down about 20mph until i did close to him so he could empty his ashtray full of cigarrette butts and ash out his window directly onto my car.
I pulled off the road and realized it wasn't worth it, it was a no win situation taking the abuse or reacting to it.
car sold for a 14 thousand dollar loss after owning it for about 5 months.

a few hours before that i was waiting in line at a starbucks drivethru and had some guy glaring at me from the outside seating area, next thing i know he's gotten up walking directly behind my car to look to see what kind it is I guess then walks back and sits down while still meanmugging me.

a few days before that have some young kid trying to look hard in his mid 90's civic fly by and cut in front me almost clipping my front bumper pebbling my car with rocks and dust. we get to the light, i see him trying to say something to me and motioning to me so i roll down my window to hear "you feel my dust bitch?"

Those 2 low-life scumbags are mad because they will NEVER own anything nice in their lifetime and are to lazy to make an effort to do so.. I predict they will meet up with the wrong person soon who will not be as forgiving as you.. As far as selling your car and taking a 14K loss, well that's your choice but I would have gone a different route.

Oh I didn't give up the GTR idea yet. It was totaled. (The 1st GTR). The first mid equipped model we bought was dumb rich kid. Still waiting on their appeal to fail by year end.
The second one (replacement to unit 1) - (recently) is the one I mentioned in my join post. Dealer Tech wrecked it when I had it in for a hot smell issue this summer. for that incident - They paid it and gave the additional funds for this Z!!!
The Z is my "fill in the gap" car while I decide on either doing a "final" GTR attempt again, or possibly a change of pace to audi a6 or better or maybe R8.

But to the OP point - today I had 3 positives with the car. It's like a bunch have said already - mixed admiration issues.

Todays lookers were very surprised to hear it was a 2014 and still in "New Car Shape" on the interior/exterior. But the second admirer in particular pointed something out on mine I never really noticed. My wheels on both sides match direction. I soon found that this IS how they are on all Z's with the wheels.

Then there was the 3rd admirer. A female driver in traffic rolls down window and honks and say's " I Like your car!!" and winks. To a middle aged dude - SWEET!!!! (hope wife don't get mad......):stirthepot:

Just today....

Description - In the beginning you can see this black Honda SI owner is content with what lane he is in and driving fairly normal.... Until he saw me. I did not break hard, I just slowed down as I knew what he was going to do, which was to harass me. Hey Honda Driver, you give Honda enthusiasts a bad name!

wtf....somebody changed into your lane behind you and you brake check them? because you assumed he was going to harrass you? lol..wtf they were literally just changing lanes
maybe he saw you were going slightly faster than the car in his lane and wanted to pass that car.

Guess you didn't read my description or the expression on his face. I knew what he was up to and you are entitled to your opinion. He had every chance to change lanes where the white car was pulling ahead in the right lane before I got there and didn't. Lastly I did not brake check him, I let off the throttle. He was being an @ss. In the State of Maine and I am sure like most the rest of this country and Canada, You are required to have a certain amount of room between you and the car in front. What he did was an act of aggression by getting on my rear end, also known as tailgating. I slow down for tailgaters and is within my right. Before he flipped me off he had a big grin on his face and as he passed by at the end he did then too, it was not innocent on his part!

lmao are you serious? I did read your description. You sound like one of those entitled drivers that takes things into their own hands if things dont go your way..
Why not just drive the same speed and let people do their thing. Its not your job to police the road when you think somebody is being aggressive (hint: he wasnt really)
Also, maybe he didnt change lanes in front of you because he was nice and saw that you were going faster and wanted to let you go first, so he pulled in behind you and let you do your thing. Which is what you should have done too. .keep driving the same speed and not slow down for no reason other than thinking you're the man and just annoying people

The whole package cost me around $300 and was two of everything. Contour ROAM3 waterproof HD action camera, 32gb miniSD cards, and the suction cup mounts Contour purchases from PanaVise. I went with cheap mounts in the beginning and they shook and rattle over every bump. The cameras will do 1080p at 30fps and 720p at 60fps. Battery takes about three hours to fully charge but will give you 2 1/2 to 3 hours of record time. I bought the cameras and cards from Amazon, and the mounts from the Contour website.

One is mounted just under my rear view and the other is on the rear window. Next time I install them I will take a picture and share how they sit.

Edit: I just wanted to add also, you may need to purchase editing software. I purchased Corel VideoStudio Pro X9 for $100 @ Best buy.

I can try to get better pics but here is how I have them mounted. The lens rotates so that you can level the picture once mounted using an infrared beam.

You do seem a bit paranoid. Just drive your car. You have cameras so you're covered if someone causes an accident.

I respect that, the thing is, people do not realize the potential problems they cause when riding the rear of another road user. You are required to have a certain amount of attention for what is in front of you and a smaller percentage of what is going on in your mirrors (what is going on around you). When a person gets up on the rear of another vehicle, the person in front is now paying more attention to what is going on behind them then in front. This is call intimidation or aggression which ever you want to call it. The road users that do it know that they do it and IMO do not deserve a right to drive for putting peoples lives at risk.

Just a further note on the video, before I even approached the light, and even he was stopped, you could see his aggressive behavior with the red car in front of him.

I see this sort of thing all of the time. Paranoid? With good reason. Did I take matters into my own hands? Perhaps, but if you look closely you do not see any jerkiness in my suspension when I slowed (NOT brake check, was never applied), you do however see his. And finally, The camera can be deceiving, he darted over right as the rear of my car passed the rear of the red car next to me. Things tend not to look as close as they really are, ask anyone who has used a dashcam or GoPro.

I ride motorcycles so I'm used to being aware of what's going on 360 degrees of the vehicle at all times. I'm always positioning the car to avoid possible trouble. The times I am in a sketchy situation it's business as usual because I know I have cameras rolling. In that situation I would've continued the speed I was going and let him do his little rev or fly by. I wouldn't slow down and keep him behind me. He might've done something wreckless to get around the other car and clip that car or mine. People trying to police traffic do more harm than good. LOL Aggressive driving in Maine looks pretty pleasant to me. Please don't come to Houston because you won't like what you see down here.

I have to agree with everyone else. You pretty much **** blocked him when he hopped over to pass the car in the left lane and are pissed off that he didn't hit the brakes and give you 30' of trailing distance after that? He took it pretty well I thought. A touch passive aggressive on your part perhaps?

I have it all the time where people let me pass so they can check out my car and then hop behind me to complete a pass. Let them admire and go on with their day.

I appreciate you telling me your opinion on this in a mature manner, truly. You like hurahn, gave me a different perspective on what happened. I just thought I would add two things, what you can't see on camera is the instant "I'm gonna **** with this guy" **** eating grin on his face on the initial lane change, second is that on most roads when this happens I am the kind of guy who usually pulls to the breakdown lane and waves for the driver to pass. I have said that very thing on this very forum and meant it. The fact I had no where to go and didn't feel like having someone ride my back bumper, I chose what I did. Was it smart or necessary? Perhaps not, opinions differ, and I do respect a difference of opinion when the point is made maturely. Thank you!

Not sure why some folks are changing this to an argument thread, but don't let it get to you. I actually experienced something like this on the way to work this morning 3 times.

I usually don't drive Saturday morning to avoid traffic in the afternoon, but I had a Camry drive right next to me until the ramp to the freeway, no matter how many times I slowed down or sped up he would match my speed.

As soon as the ramp came up, I was about to pass an Altima slowly because my lane was empty when I heard some revving and the Altima just smashed past me, cut into my lane, and didn't even go into the freeway...

To make my morning commute better, this Accord was tailing me halfway through the freeway bridge for no reason...

**** like this happens all the time, just let it go, not worth the tickets or popo pulling you over, or a wrecked car :inoutroflpuke: The flipping off is something that comes with owning a Z especially in certain locations like the Bay Area... At least you have your cams, still need to find a quality one for my car...

Look dude, what more do you want from me? I have already said multiple times that this could have been handled differently. In the moment I did what I did. Would I handle it differently next time this happens? Perhaps. Now, because others have voice their opinions without jumping all over me and actually gave me constructive criticism, I responded in kind. I get that this rubbed you the wrong way, but I will not apologize. Just for you, I viewed it again.... I was wrong for slowing down on him. However, if you watch closely, he did not just merely change lanes, before my car started to slow (verified by the red car next to mine) he was purposely accelerating to get on my back bumper.

Now, I have said my peace about this, moving on.

I had one of the clowns try to get me last night. Someone in a lifted chevy gun it as I was cruising past him. When they realized I wasn't racing they just sat next to me.

kevinpantz 09-19-2016 11:48 PM

I haven't had ANYONE try to race me in 6 months in my nismo. I have found that people in front of me drive a LOT slower than when I had my rsx or s2000. They also pull out in front of me a lot more frequently. That one annoys me more than anything. Being more mature than my younger honda days I drive less aggressively yet find myself in a lot more situations in the past year with people hovering around my car on the streets. Just 2 days ago it was raining so hard here that the roads flooded. Long story short, car was on my *** for a good 7 miles, never passed when he had the chance, come to a stop sign and I had pull a california stop since the person behind me started sliding and ended in the middle of the intersection.

mults 09-20-2016 10:50 AM

A coworker (with 350Z) and I were on the freeway last month and a knucklehead in a Kia Soul got next to me (I was in the left lane) and would not let me back in to the right lane behind my friend. We sped up and slowed down and he didn't budge...so, with our walkie-talkies, we decided to put some space between us and him. This lasted for a few minutes and then he got next to us again, no matter what speed we were going. This went on for at least 10 minutes until he got to the off ramp. What an idiot!

TriNismo 09-20-2016 02:07 PM

The "hovering" crowd.. stay with you no matter what speed you're at. Annoying..

I had my 2013 Nismo (100% stock) for two days before the CSC let loose. In that time a teenager working at McDonalds hit on me. Also, some random guy driving in front of me but turning left on a side road stuck half his body out of the car to give a thumbs up. I have no idea what all of that is about. My daily driver costs 3x what the Nismo does new and no one seems to care about a big *** SUV.

I think some of your ricer problems could be solved with a high-quality radar detector and driving your car with a little aggression. You don't have to set new track records going to the grocery store but your car was not made to run in the right hand lane 5 MPH under the speed limit. Get a clear bra installed and don't give them the opportunity to get in front of you. :)

I came from the motorcycle world, too. Ducatis, Aprilias and Triumphs, everyone wants to see the exotic and unintentionally get a little too close for comfort.

pearlmt 09-29-2016 07:31 PM

wow... I thought I was the only one who encountered situations like this for no reason.
Interesting to know I am not alone here!!

pearlmt 09-29-2016 07:50 PM

cars that give me trouble: older toyota camrys, older nissan altimas, toyota sienna vans, old beater small trucks and late model civics. not to sound arrogant, but its always the beater cars or the soccer mom vans giving me trouble! when I drive I mind my own business doing speed limit in the right lane. I get brake checked by people on the daily even if I am going slower than everyone else. I never tailgate and always leave a 3 car length distance.

Wait til you have them pass you on the right, merge back in front of you, and THEN, brake check you. LOL, Never a dull moment. I just have to laugh.

Lots of Comments

I have had my 2016 Nismo for about 6 weeks now. And I get "OMG" comments/looks multiple times a day. While on a recent trip to my home state of Arkansas, I was getting gas, and this very old lady (in her 80s) leaned over from the opposite gas pump and gave me a thumbs up and said "SHARP!". And while at a fast food restaurant, this redneck comes in and asks if that was my Z, and asked if it really said 180 on the speedometer. I actually didn't even know, and had to go check myself.

LOL, it happened again this morning. Jumped on the interstate and it was a Jeep Grand Cherokee. Tried to take my rear bumper off and then tried to take my front bumper off. I was cruising at 82, guess that wasn't fast enough. I hate idiot drivers.

I had to meet with a resident today, as part of my job. First thing the 60 year old guy says to me is "how do you like that thing?"

Me: "Love it. It's a joy to drive"

Him: "They must be paying you too much over there"

Me: "Nah, I just don't have kids"

Him: "Oh yeah, I hear you. What kind of Porsche is that?"

Me: :bowrofl:

Me: It's a Nissan 370z

Him:  :eek2:
